SEPTEMBER 5. 2001 40th Huron Pioneer Thresher Reunion Just like this Threshing demonstrations, one of the long-time events, continue to be a big part of the Reunion. Check out competitions The 40th reunion of the Huron Pioneer Always keep in mind that the day's events Thresher and Hobby Association has some- finish up with a parade. The Opening Ceremony will take place on Friday Sept. 7 at the Second Stage. If you want to arrive early there is a fun tractor pull on the south side of the grounds from 10 a.m.-noon. Tractor pulls will also be held at this time and from 1-3 p.m. every day of the reunion. On Friday and Saturday, the adult pull will be fol- lowed by the children's pull with garden trac- tors. Horse demonstrations and displays can be seen at 10:30 a.m. and again at 2:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday they are at 12:30 p.m. only. The Clarkshome Border Collies are back to display their skills. On Friday they will be working at I I a.m. and 2 p.m. sharp. They can next be seen at 11 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. Sunday demonstrations will be held at noon and 3:15 p.m. If you are curious about how they used to farm then a demonstration of old-time thresh- ing can be seen at 11 a.m. and I:15 p.m. on all three days. To complete the experience you can watch a demonstration of steam engine ploughing at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. If you like to compete there are several events at which you can try your hand. Competions for adults in log sawing, bag tying and belt setting will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday only. The children's competitions are held a half hour later on the same days. Sunday starts with a Church service at the main stage at 10 a.m.
