Seers, who is the co-ordinator for the Reunion's display of antique and classic cars and trucks, came by his pride and joy almost by accident. He had agreed to help a friend bring some cars up from Alvarado, Texas in 1980. While there he noticed the T-bird on the same lot and decided he had to own it. It recently received its second new paint job and will look its best for the Reunion. Last year there were approximately 50 antique vehicles in the display. With all the hard work and sentimental value the tractor held, Root refused. The tractor has been shown at Steve Radford's booth for three years. This year the tractor has been changed. An electric starter and new motor installed, making the tractor easier to run. The tractor has been taken all around the area to shows in Mitchell, Clandeboye and the Huron Plowing Match. It seems Root was born to work with trac- tors. After moving into Blyth about ten years ago, he started his own tractor repair business, going around to local farms to fix tractors. In the past he has restored many other of Aubrey's old Massey tractors, all showcased in the Massey 'display at the Threshers. "It's my hobby, it's what I enjoy," Root said. Currently, Root is working on another surprise tractor for a friend much like the one he built a few years ago. This one should be ready to show off at the Threshers too.
