Trillium money for Threshers

Trucks found unsafe
On Aug. 27 at approximately 6:15 found that
p.m. an officer stopped a truck on
North Line. County Rd. 12 just north
of Seatorth.
The dump truck had been modified
for oft-road use. The attached
manure tank was full, hauling liquid
manure.
Upon investigating the officer
found several safety issues that could
cause the death of some other driver
on the road. The truck was using
improper tires, had the front brakes
completely removed and had no air
brakes, the steering linkage was
loose. the front axles had leaking
seals, there were holes in the floor. a
broken windshield and rotting frame
plus many other detects.
While the officer was dealing with
this truck two more trucks from the
same company also pulled over and
stopped. Many of the same problems
were found with these trucks.
The officer there were
no log books, no plates on the vehi-
cles, no change of registration, no
inspection stickers, no CVOR and
the drivers in two cases did not have
a licence.
Two of the drivers left the scene
before the officer could stop them,
but the third one was held and the
vehicle towed to a local garage and
taken oft the roadway for being
unsafe.
Huron OPP are investigating a
company from the Owen Sound area
tor the violations. Three males, a
year-old and a 16-year-old from
Sydenham Tvi.p. and a 22-year-old
from Wiarton are to be charged ssIili
a number of traffic violations w hile
two are also looking at a charge
under the Criminal Code of obstruct-
ing a police officer.
The investigation continues in the
truck caper.
