Obituaries
MONTY ENGEL
Mr. Monty Engel, RR5, Seaforth,
passed away suddenly as the result
of a motor vehicle accident on
Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2001. He was
in his 43rd year.
Mr. Engel is survived .by his wife,
Cindy. He was the loving father of
Trevor and Tyson Engel of Seaforth
and Charlene, Nicole and Chris
Engel of Kitchener. He was the cher-
ished son of Tillie and the late Ross
Engel of Cranbrook and son-in-law
of Meryl and Gloria Glanville of
Seaforth. He was the dear brother
and brother-in-law of Isabel and
Eldon Wick of White River, Faye
and Campbell Grant of Listowel,
John and Pat Engel of Cranbrook,
Dianne and Ron McCloury of
Ripley, Gayle and Ken Dewar of
RRI, Monkton, Barry and Diane
Engel of Brussels, and brother-in-
law of Brian and Donna Glanville of
Egmondville, Sharon Wood and Rod
McNaughton of, Seaforth, Larry
Glanville and Brad Glanville of
Alberta.
Besides his father, Mr. Engel was
predeceased by .a brother-in-law
Doug Glanville.
Friends were received at The Box
& Smith Funeral Chapel, 47 High
St., Seaforth on Friday from 2-4 and
7-9 p.m. Funeral services were held
on Saturday at 2 p.m. at
Egmondville United Church with
Rev. Judith Springett officiating.
Interment was in Brussels
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Barry Engel, Ron
Watson, David Engel, Brian
Glanville, Rod McNaughton and
Craig Wilkinson. Carrying floral
tributes were Brittany Wood, Tanner
Glanville, Bruce and Dawn
Johnston.
Memorial donations to the
Seaforth Community Hospital or the
charity of one's choice may be made
as expressions of sympathy.
As a tribute to the life of Monty, a
tree will be plaited in his memory.
JAMES A. MAIR
Jim Mair of the Highland
Apartments, Brussels, peacefully
entered into eternal rest surrounded
by his family at Huronlea, Brussels,
on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2001. He
was in his 91st year.
Born in Sullivan Twp. on Sept. 27,
1910, Jim was one of eight children
of the late Walter and Nettie Mair
and the beloved husband of the late
Evelyn (Scott) Mair.
He married Evelyn on Oct. 1, 1949
and they settled on the third conces-
sion of Morris Twp. where they
farmed for many years until retiring
to Brussels in 1985.
Jim had many interests such as
reading, a love of dogs, watching the
Blue Jays and woodworking. He has
left behind a legacy of handcrafted
grandfather clocks, as well as furni-
ture and rocking horses, most of
which were built from oak trees
from the farm.
Jim was an active member of his
community, including Melville
Presbyterian Church, the Brussels
Agricultural Society, the Howick
Mutual Fire Insurance Co. and being
on the board of directors for
Conestoga College.
He also took a special interest in
municipal politics with involvement
that included Morris Twp. council,
serving for a time as deputy reeve,
and the Huron County Housing
Authority.
An active mason, Jim was also a
Past Master and Lodge Historian of
St. John's Lodge No. 284 A.F. &
A.M., Brussels, Past First Principle
of Lebanon Chapter No. 84 R.A.M.,
Wing ham and Past Grand
Superintendent of Huron District
No. 6 of the Royal Arch Masonry.
Jim will be sadly missed by his
daughters Norma Royer of Toronto,
Linda Rosart and her husband pave
of Mount Hope and Joan Bordash
and her husband Greg of Pickering.
He was the loving grandfather of
Brent, Chad, Bryan and Mitchell.
He was also loved by his sisters
Catherine Dewar of Owen Sound,
Agnes Lee of Southampton, Anna
Hood of Owen Sound, his several
nieces, nephews, friends and neigh-
bours.
Jim was predeceased by his broth-
ers Gilbert, Tom and, Alan and his
sister Isabel Mair.
Friends were received by the fam-
ily from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Friday
at the Schimanski Family Funeral
Home, Brussels. A Masonic memori-
al service was conducted Friday
evening at 9 p.m. under the auspices
of St. John's Lodge No. 284 A.F. &
A.M.
The funeral service was conducted
from Melville Presbyterian Church,
Brussels, on Saturday, Sept. I at 2
p.m. officiated by Rev. Cathrine
Campbell. The organist was Mrs.
Joanne King with special music pro-
vided by soloist Margaret Mclnroy,
the trio of Mary Douma, Peggy
Aitchison and Margaret Mclnroy,
and piper Marianne Bone.
Acting as flowerbearers were
Sarah Power and grandsons Chad
Rosart and Bryan and Mitchell
Bordash.
Honorary pallbearers were Gerald
Gibson, Harold Steffler, Lloyd
Wheeler and Tim Dilworth.
Pallbearers were Percy West, Doug
Brining, Jim Bowman, Jeff Cardiff,
Brian Scott and Jim Scott.
Intermentwas in Brussels
Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy,
memorial donations may be made to
Melville Presbyterian Church or to
the Heart and Stroke Foundation of
Ontario.

MARGARET MYRTLE WIENS
Mrs. Margaret Wiens of Wingham,
formerly of Teeswater passed away
at Wingham and District Hospital on
Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001. She was 88.
The former Margaret Mighton was
the beloved wife of the late Kenneth
Wilkinson (1981) and the late Jack
Wiens (1993). She was the mother of
Joan Wissler and Marjorie
McKenzie both of Wingham, Donna
Wilson of Kincardine, and Sharon
and George Skinn of Wingham. She
is also survived by her sister Effie
Savage of Harriston, 17 grandchil-
dren, 40 great-grandchildren and 11
great-great-grandchildren. Mrs.
Wiens was predeceased by her sons-
in-law, Earl Harrison, Len Wissler,
Angus Wilson and John McKenzie,
her grandchildren Bette Ann and
Bobby Harrison, two sisters and
three brothers.
Visitation was at McBurney
Funeral Home, Wingham on
Wednesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.
Funeral service was held at the
funeral home on Thursday at 1:30
p.m. Rev. John Vaudry officiated.
Interment was in Culross-
Teeswater Cemetery, Culross Twp.
Memorial donations to Wingham
and District Hospital Foundation
(for equipment) would be appreciat-
ed as expressions of sympathy.
