KELLY MCDONALD
Kelly McDonald is the daughter of
Rick and Jo-Ann McDonald of RR2,
Brussels. The 18-year-old is current-
ly in her OAC year at Seaforth
District High School and hopes to
one day be a pharmacist. Sponsored
by the Walton Women's Institute,
Kelly enjoys step-dancing, sports,
arts and crafts.
Guess what? Membership dues are
now being accepted for 2002. Dues
paid before Dec., 1 are at a reduced
rate and are entered into a monthly
draw.
Cromade Willis Knight is recover-
ing and is even able to be home on
weekends.
Legion week is Sept. 17-23 so
watch for extra events to be held at
the Branch in our coming events ad
in this paper.
Keep in mind with the fall there are
Cadets, Beavers and darts held every
week. Our meeting room is available
most nights and we welcome
inquiries about the hall. Call 887-
6562 between 4 and 8 p.m. daily.

weeks. This past week, there were
nine tables in play. The winners were
open if you want to taste the deli-
cious secret recipe.
SAMANTHA THOMAS
Samantha Thomas, 16, is a Grade
12 student at F.E. Madill Secondary
School. A drummer with the
Seaforth All Girls Marching Band,
she enjoys fine -arts, reading and
recreational soccer. Employed part-
time at Huronlea in Brussels as a
student dietary aid, the daughter of
Mike Thomas and Jamie Thomas. of
Brussels hopes to one day pursue a
career as an interior designer.

Officially the slow summer months
at the Brussels Legion Branch are
over and the busy fall schedule will
begin.
The Branch will resume having
executive meetings and general
meetings. All members of the Branch
are encouraged and welcomed to
attend general meetings held the last
Monday of the month at 8 p.m. New
faces, new ideas and new volunteers
would help keep the Branch going
strong and ultimately the doors open.
The ever-popular euchre tourna-
ments will continue every two

The inaugural meeting of the
newly-formed Huron-Perth District
#23 was held in Clinton Lodge
rooms on Wednesday, Aug. 29 at
2 p.m. Nine Past Noble Grands from
Brussels attended to see Sister Elva
Brown receive her Past District
Deputy President jewel from
District Deputy President Sister
Joyce Chelton of Huronic Lodge,
Clinton.
Morning Star Lodge will begin
meetings on Tuesday, Sept. 11 with a
potluck supper at 6:30 p.m.

AMBER PARK
Amber Park, 17, is in Grade 12 at
F.E. Madill Secondary School. The
daughter of Debbie and Doug Shaw
of Brussels and Stephen Park of
Toronto works part-time at the
Brussels Variety. She is on her
school's cheerleading team and in
her spare time loves to sing. Her
future plan is to be a correctional
officer. Amber is sponsored by the
Brussels Tigers.
Marie Stewart and Ilene Sellers. In
second place were Jim Coultes and
his friend Mary and third place went
to Neil Hatt and Edna McLellan.
Lone hand winners were Delores
Howatt and Lloyd Appleby. The next
euchre is Sept. 15 at I p.m.
The fall is also a time for commit-
tee heads to attend seminars to learn
about their particular committee.
Comrades Rick and Jo-Ann
McDonald attended the poppy and
public relations seminars last week in
Hensall. There is always something
to learn or new ideas to be brought
back to the Branch.
There was no supper last Friday
night but this week will see lasagna
on the menu. Anyone wishing to help
on the Friday night supper committee
can call Jo-Ann at 887-6570. The
early bird elimination draw is on
Saturday, so you might as well be in
on the start. Members are reminded
to turn in their sold tickets by Friday
night.
The plans are in place for a fish fry
that day Sept. 22. So keep that date
