celebrate
40th
Reunion
The Huron Pioneer Thresher and
Hobby Association celebrates its
40th Reunion years year and is
going stronger than ever.
The reunion opens officially on
Friday, Sept. 7 1.vaith ceremonies at
12:30 a.m. on the second stage.
However, the fun starts earlier in the
week with campers arriving,
displays being set up and jam
sessions on Wednesday and
-Thursday evenings.
The long time attractions such as
the threshing demonstration, the
large steam traction engines and
displays of antique tractors will all
be back. They are joined by the
newer crowd pleasers, the
Clarkshome border collies and the
children's garden tractor pull.
This year will see, for the first
time, Doc Century and his
travelling medicine show. Actor and
magician Steve Baker will be using
the persona of Doc Century, a turn-
of-the-century snake oil salesman,
to entertain reunion-goers with
magic and laughter.
While the reunion celebrates the
past, this year it is going to create a
bit of history for itself. A
commemorative quilt has been
designed, which will be displayed at
future reunions. For a $5 donation,
to help defray the costs, you can
sign a square which will be
embroidered and quilted around the
centre block of a steam engine.
The 40th anniversary will also be
commemorated with a cookbook of
reunion-goer's favourites, which
will hopefully be available at the
next reunion.
Both of these projects are the
inspiration of Deb flakkers and if
you want to immortalize your name
or your recipe then drop around to
her booth in the craft area.
The 40th Reunion pro "raises to be
as much fun as those that went
before with even moire to see and do
than previous years.
