Kinloss man loses licence after pleading guilty to over 80
A Kinloss Twp. man is oft the road
for a year after pleading guilty in
Wingham's court, Thursday, to a
charge of over 80.
Andrew Johnston was arrested
June 9 in the Twp. of North Huron.
Breathalizer readings were 110 and
100 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of
blood.
Judge J. L. Getliffe also fined
Johnston $600.
Adjourned
Hoang Bui, Bay Nguyen, Bich Vu,
Duc Nguyen and Thi Pham appeared
on several drug related charges from
June 26. The five were among six
charged following the execution of
search warrants in several area loca-
tions. The group was charged with
production of a substance and pos-
session of a substance for the purpose
of trafficking
The amount seized had a street
value of over $1 million.
The sixth person Chien Ngo was
not in attendance. His address was
listed as London, Eng. for plea.
The matters were adjourned until
Sept. 20 for plea.
Public disturbance
Michael Walker of Brussels was
fined a total of $150 for one charge
of causing a public disturbance and
two charges of failing to comply with
a probation order.
Crown Attorney Bob Morris said
on April 7 police saw the 18-year-old
outside in a state of intoxication.
Then on May 3, the vice-principal at
Madill advised police that Walker,
who was not to be on school proper-
ty was yelling at an outside gym
class. When police arrived they
found another individual there with
whom Walker was not to associate.
According to Morris, the probation
officer said that when Walker initial-
ly began his probation he was "very
problematic" but since finding
employment was doing better.
Duty Counsel Alan Mill said
Walker had been "out of control", but
added that .his employer, who was
present to support the accused, said
that he now worked 16-hour days and
there was no time to get into trouble.
Getliffe fined Walker $100 for the
disturbance charge and $25 each for
the breach charges. He was given 60
days to pay.
Mischief under $5;000
Aaron Rochon of Wingham pled
guilty to mischief under $5,000.
Morris said that on March 26 the
accused had told his mother he had
quit school and did not have a job.
Driving him back to school, the two
argued and Rochon punched the
windshield causing $600 damage.
Asked about restitution, Rochon
said the car had been sold and a new
one purchased.
He was tined $150 and given 90
days to pay.
Peace bonds
In separate cases, two people
entered into peace bonds. Donna Hall
and John Bjerg were ordered to have
no association with the respective
complainants for a period of one
year, to keep the peace and be on
good behaviour.
Marijuana possession
An RRI Wroxeter man pled guilty
to possession of marijuana. Derek
Elliott was arrested June • 8 after
police found three ounces of marijua-
na in a film canister, a hash pipe and
some seeds during the search of a
vehicle.
Elliott was fined $100.
Fail to comply
George Shaw of Wingham pled
guilty to a charge of failure to com-
ply with a probation order, namely a
curfew.
On June 24 at 1:10 a.m., Officer
Frazer of the Wingham Police
Service stopped a vehicle for erratic
driving. Shaw was in the vehicle and
he had been drinking. He also was in
violation of his 11 p.m. curfew.
Mill said Shaw works days for a
roofer and catches chickens at night.
Getliffe fined Shaw $100, but
noted if he breaches his probation
again, he will be looking at jail time.
Absolute discharge
At,
Despite entering guilty pleas two
men were given absolute discharges
after telling their story to the judge.
Tyler Bleck of Dublin and Wes
Stapleton of East Wawanosh had
been arrested June 2/after a fight in
Wingham. Bleck said he was defend-
ing himself, while Stapleton said
Bleck, "came at him."
Noting that neither man had a
record Getliffe granted the discharge
in each case. He cautioned however,
that despite this, the Crown could
bring forth the information should
they ever be back in court for any
reason. "Consider you are very lucky.
Let's say this is the first bite of the
apple."
