MARK ANDREW McCRACKEN Mark McCracken of Belgrave passed away as a result of a traffic accident in Steuben County, Indiana on Friday, Aug. 3, 2001. He was 12. Mark was the beloved son of Kathy McCracken of Belgrave and the late John McCracken (Friday, Aug. 3, 2001). He was the dear brother of James and Kenneth McCracken at home and grandson of Barbara (McCracken) Hackett and -Alvin Hackett of Lucknow, the late John McCracken Sr. and Warren and Jackie Fines of Fordwich. Mark was also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation was at the McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham on Sunday, 7 - 9 p.m. and Monday, 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral service was held at the Wingham United Church on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Ethel Miner Clare officiated. Cremation followed with place- ment of ashes in Brandon Cemetery. Belgrave. Memorial donations to Canadian Diabetes Association (Research) or the Canadian Arthritis Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. JOHN RICHARD McCRACKEN John McCracken of Belgrave passed away as the result of a traffic accident in Steuben County, Indiana on Friday, Aug. 3, 2001. He was 47. He was the cherished husband of Kathy (Fines) McCracken. He was the beloved father of James and Kenneth McCracken both at home and the late Mark McCracken (Friday, Aug. 3, 2001). He was the son of Barbara (McCracken) Hackett and Alvin Hackett of Lucknow and the late John McCracken • Sr. and brother of Brenda McCracken (Darrell Dinney) of Goderich, Karen McCracken of Vanastra, Koreen Hickey (Ken Aiken) of London and Heather (Duncan) Fox of Pine River. John was also survived by Kathy's parents, Warren and Jackie Fines of Fordwich and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother James. GENE SNELL • Gathered inthe arms of Jesus, Lillian Eugene Snell (nee Cook) of Blyth, went to her eternal home in her 82nd year, early in the morning on Aug. 4, 2001 surrounded by her loves ones. "Weeping may last for the night, but a shout of joy comes in the morn- ing" (Psalm 30:5). Gene was the beloved wife of Alvin Snell. She was the loving and devoted mother of Harvey (Deanna) Snell of Blyth, Clifford ,Snell of Blyth, Shirley (Jack) Johnson of London, Audrey (Jim) Timpany of Aylmliftnd Bonnie (Herb) Shannon of Blyth. She was dearly loved by her 13 grandchildren Shane, Shannon, Kriss, Craig, Nikki, Dean, Deneen, Kurt, Kari, Darryl, Corey, Nathan and Devin and two precious great-grandchildren Hailey and Alisha. She -was the dear sister of Mary Walden of Blyth. She will be remembered by her nieces and nephews. Mrs. Snell was prede- ceased by her grandson Kent, her sis- ter Laverne, and her parents Walter and Charlotte Cook. Friends and family were received at the Blyth Visitation Centre, Beattie-Falconer Funeral Homes Ltd. on Monday, Aug. 6 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. A celebration of Gene's life took place at the Blyth United Church, 442 Mill St., Blyth on Tuesday, Aug. 7 at 11 a.m. Interment was in Blyth Union Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy donations to the charity of one's choice would be appreciated. "You have made known to me the paths of life. You will fill me with joy in your presence." (Acts 2:28). MALCOLM (BUD) LEWIS Malcolm (Bud) Lewis of London passed away suddenly at his resi- dence on Friday, Aug. 10, 2001. He was in his 68th year. Malcolm was the beloved husband of Margery (Black) Lewis. He was the dear brother of Shirley Brinle,y of St. Thomas, Bill Lewis of Hamilton and Jerry Lewis of Toronto, and brother-in-law of Tom and Connie Black, Keith and Barb Black of Belgrave, Murray Black of Blyth and Joan Riley of Colorado. He will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews. The funeral service was held at the C. Haskett and Son Funeral Home, 223 Main St., Lucan on Monday, Aug. 13 at 11 a.m. Cremation fol- lowed with interment at St. James Cemetery, Clandeboye. Donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. HAROLD GORDON ALLAN HARKES Harold Gordon Allan Harkes passed away peacefully after a short but courageous battle with cancer on July 29, 2001 surrounded by his fam- ily. He was 49. He is survived by his parents, Gordon and Hilda Harkes of Clinton, his sister Beverley Blair and her hus- band Alex of Blyth, his brother Keith and his wife Paula and his, brother, Robert and his wife Marianne, all of Calgary, Alberta. Also left to mourn his passing are numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Harold was greatly loved and will be sadly missed by his family 'and friends. He will miss sailing the Pacific Ocean, his passion in life. A memorial service was held Thursday, Aug. 2 at Heritage Funeral Home in Calgary. Cremation followed. Correction One of the pallbearers in the obit- uary of Ada Brittain published in the Aug. 1 issue of The Citizen was incorrectly identified. It should have read Bob Tyerman.
