Godkin greets worshippers at Duff's service Lavern Godkin greeted worship- pers at Duff's United Church on July 22 for the last service of the summer after which Joan Tuchlinsky began her holidays. She announced that church will begin again Sept. 2. Her reflection was based on the story of Mary and Martha from the Luke reading. She told about one of her best summer memories in recent years which was spent at Brian's parents' home. They had a pool and I love writing about the births of new babies and it seems that there have been a lot this year. I have yet another one to tell you. There were 10 members and two guests present for the Walton Women's Institute meeting Wednesday evening at the home of Marion Godkin. Leona McDonald opened with a poem On The Farm followed by the singing of the Institute Ode. The Mary Stewart Collect was repeated in unison, then members sang 0 Canada. Margaret McInroy read the min- utes, the treasurer's report and corre- spondence. Plans are being made by Ruth Axtmann for the Blyth Festival din- often after swimming Brian's moth- er would invite them to stay for sup- per. She would not spend a lot of time in the kitchen but it was always a feast to them. If she had felt the need to spend all day in the kitchen cooking she might not have asked them to stay for supper or she might not have had the opportunity to sit in the backyard watching her grand- children and children play games in the pool or spend time talking with them. She recognized the precious Kathleen Williamson couldn't wait to announce granddaughter Cathy Regele and her husband Wayne have a new baby girl. A great-granddaughter for Kathleen is Katlyn Madison Anne, born July 17 in Hamilton, weighing in at four pounds, 14 ounces. Both baby and mother are doing just fine. Congratulations. Congratulations to Cassandra Banks and Laura Black who have completed eight course hours of the Lethbridge College Babysitting Course which was sponsored by Seaforth Co-operative Children's ner Aug. 31. Those members who are able are asked to help that day. This being the meeting on agricul- ture issues, Marion introduced David and Pat Hemingway who spoke on the foot and mouth disease and the different ways it can be spread. The last case in Canada was in 1962. Very rarely do people contact this disease. He handed out maps of the British Isles. They had visited England recently and he outlined different places in England where they still have a few cases. A question and answer period fol- moment for what it was and chose to focus on the family instead of the food. This is what Mary did when Jesus came to their home in Bethany. The spiritual food that Mary is partaking in will last far longer than food pre- pared in the kitchen, Ms Tuchlinsky said. Jesus does not put down Martha's ministry of service but he reminds her not to get so caught up in the work that she forgets why she is doing it. Centre Inc. Anyone needing babysitters now have two very capa- ble girls available. We welcome home from holidays Barb, Mike, James and Nick Durrell who had a fantastic trip out east. Barb's sister, who was married recently, moved out to Nova Scotia, home of her husband. James said that he was bitten twice by jellyfish, which had covered the beaches when the tide went out. The family made it to P.E.I. which they enjoyed very much. Barb said they saw many sights, went on a lot of different trails and lowed with many views expressed on this terrible disease. Marion thanked David, her broth- er, for all the pictures he showed. The next meeting will be held at the home of Margaret Mclnroy at 1 p.m. Aug. 15. Following the Institute grace a social time was had over a lunch pre- pared by Leona McDonald, Marjory Humphries and the hostess. Check out The Citizen's WEBSITE at www.northhuron.on.ca The ability to focus on the beloved rather than the task can open grace- filled moments for people as well, she said. When they spend time with God, in worship, their homes or out- side, they are opening opportunities for God to determine the gifts in their lives. If they get so caught up in the tasks that they forget v. by they are doing them, the joy is lessened and the spirit will have more diffi- culty moving through their lives, she said. weri thankful for the rain on the way home that took the red mud off their van.
