THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, JULY 25, 2001. PAGE 15.
Local Scouts return from Jamboree in P.E.I.
The Canadian Scouting Jamboree
was held from July 7 until July 13 at
the Cabot Beach Provincial Park on
Malpeque Bay in Prince Edward,
Island.
Sixteen SCouts and Venturers from
the Blyth and Brussels areas attended
with their leaders.
The Blyth party left by train from
Stratford on July 6 and after transfer- -
ing to a bus in Moncton they crossed
the Confederation-Bridge to arrive in
time for the opening ceremonies on
Saturday, July 7.
Brad Businger, Devon Josling and
Brad Hill from Brussels Went with
the troop from Exeter and flew out of
Hamilton.
Along with over 14,000 partici-
pants from countries as diverse as
England, New Zealand and Hong
Kong as well as the U.S. and Canada
the group took part in traditional
scouting activities as well as several
variations.
Dory rowing may not be unusual
for the east coast Scouts but proved
to be a bit of a challenge for some of
those not so used to the sea.
When asked which activity was his
favourite Justin Businger was able to
answer without hesitation, "Meeting
girls."
Other less traditional activities
included the building of water bal-
loon launchers and a particular
favourite called mud mazing.
Mud mazing apparently combines
a large pool of red P.E.I. mud with
