Brussels Livestock report
Steer sales reach $127 while bull sales hit $103
Total receipts for the Brussels
Livestock for the week ending July 20
were 1,890 head of cattle, 653 lambs
and goats.
On Tuesday fed steers and heifers
sold at prices $1 to $2 higher. The
cows sold on a steady market.
Thursday's veal sold on a good strong
active trade. The lambs sold steady to
last week. On Friday, all, classes and
weights of stockers sold on a steady
market.
There were 495 steers on offer
selling from $115 to $119 with sales to
$127. Lauderlea Farms, Listowel,
consigned three limousin steers
averaging 1,430 lbs. selling to Holly
Park Meat Packers for $127. Their
overall consignment of eleven
limousin steers averaged 1,406 lbs..
and sold for an average of $125.61.
One gold steer consigned by Jason B.
Martin, Chesley, weighed 1,280 lbs.
selling to Highland Packers Ltd. for
$125. His overall consignment of ten
steers averaged 1,378 lbs. selling for
an average of $120.44.
Fred and Lynda Heiwig, Neustadt,
consigned 10 steers averaging 1,391
lbs. selling for an average of $121.97
with their top two gold steers
averaging 1,330 lbs. selling to Holly
Park Meat Packers for $124.25. Ken
McAlpine, Ailsa Craig, consigned
three gold steers averaging 1,482 lbs.
selling to Dominion Meats for $122.
His overall offering of eight steers
averaged 1,434 lbs. and sold. for an
average of $121.15.

lbs. and sold for an average of $119.67
with sales to $120.75. Nine charolais
steers consigned by Phillip Hall, Ailsa
Craig, averaged 1,359 lbs. and sold for
an average of $119.12 with his top four
steers averaging 1,359 lbs. selling for

1,415 lbs. selling for an average of
$118.95 with their top six charolais
steers averaging 1,403 lbs. selling for

1,424 lbs. and sold for an average price
of $118.64. Seventeen steers

Brussels, averaged 1,511 lbs. and sold
for an average of $117.46 with his top
red steer weighing 1,405 lbs. selling
for $121.50.
There were 231 heifers on offer
selling from $115 to $119 with sales to
$132. Machan Construction, Monkton,
consigned one blonde heifer weighing
1,315 lbs. which sold to Norwich
Packers for $132. Their overall
consignment of six heifers averaged
1,345 lbs. and sold for an average of
$118.58. One Limousin heifer
consigned by Tom Hern, Woodham,
weighed 1,215 lbs. and sold to
Dominion Meats for $124.50. His
overall consignment of seven heifers
averaged 1,291 lbs. and sold for an
average of $117.81.
Larry Gardiner, Staffa, consigned
one red heifer weighing 1,055 lbs.
selling for $123. His total consignment
of three heifers averaged 1,105 lbs.
bringing an average price of $120.75.
Six limousin heifer consigned by
Merkley Farms, Wroxeter, averaged
1,103 lbs. and sold for an average of
$119.50 with sales up to $121.50. Four
heifers consigned by Bruce Dale,
Centralia, averaged 1,313 lbs. and sold
for an average of $118.02 with his top
limousin heifer weighing 1,180 lbs.

1,345 lbs. selling for an average of

sales to $92; D3, $65 to $70; D4, $55

consigned one limousin cow weighing
1,805 lbs. which sold to Aylmer Meat
Packers for $92. One charolais cow
consigned by Carl Spencer, Tara,
weighed 1,235 lbs. selling to Aylmer
Meat Packers for $86. His overall
consignment of six cows averaged
1,415 lbs. selling for an average of
$76.41. Bill Atton, Wroxeter,
consigned one blue cow weighing
1,600 lbs. selling to Levinoff Meat
Products Ltd. for $85.
