Brussels bowling
host tournament
The Brussels I U-11 squad got off
to a slow Start this season but have
been kicking into high gear in recent
play.
On May 15 the squad faced Elma
at home and came up on the short
side of a 5-1 contest. Chris Barton
tallied the lone marker for the hosts.
Halfbacks Laura Bowers and Dena
Davidson did a great job on the field.
May 29 was a tough one against an
overpowering Newton squad. The
visitors were handed a 9-0 white-
wash by their hosts.
On June 5 the team met up with
Brussels II. They took this one by a
score of 2-1. Barton and Bowers
were pointgetters. Great forward
effort by Kyle Griffith and Cayli
Hunt and solid defence from Kristen
McArter arid Nicole Williamson kept
the score down.
June 19 the U-11 s tied Elma in
Listowel. Solid in goal was P.J.
Turner. Ami Schimanski and David
Grobbink moved the ball up the
On July 3 the Blyth Atom Thunder
soccer squad challenged the Brian's
Valu-Mart team in Wingham.
It was a well-played game. Despite
close chances to score in the last
minutes of the game, Blyth had to
field, while Lacy McArter and Jodi
McIntosh kept the ball away from
the Brussels net. Danica Zwep con-
tributed well with her excellent play
throughout the game.
Scoring for Brussels were Barton
with two and Tom Cronin.

three wins, 48 plus, one; second, Cal
Cressman and Naomi Brubacher,
Elmira, three wins, 47; third, Bob
and Audrey McKinley, Clinton,
three wins, 40; fourth, Jack and
Audrey McDonald, Lucknow, two
wins, 53 plus five; fifth, Ken Rolph
and Donna Rose, Mitchell, two wins,
43 plus two; sixth, Gordon Lang and
Selina Ducklow, Mitchell, two wins.

Hamilton, Lucknow, two wins, 34;
eighth, Stuart Lane and Edna
