PAGE 12. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, JULY 4, 2001. i Myth Public School Valedictorian tells classmates to follow dreams By Amanda Bearss Teachers, par- ents, ladies and gentlemen, and fellow graduates. Ever since the beginning we have been a small class. On that first frightening day of kindergarten new friendships were formed and memories started that will last a lifetime. Mrs. Buftinga was always there to teach us our alphabet, the days of the week and to tie our shoes. After that first easy-going year Grade I was one step further to learn- ing new skills. Our teacher that year was Mrs. Battye. There we shared frustrating times While we first start- ed learning how to read. Mrs. Battye also taught us addition and subtrac- tion which we would be needing in our everyday lives. In Grade 2 Mrs. A-G was always there to cheer us, encourage us and help us to further develop our litera- ture and mathematical skills. Miss Jewitt taught us multiplica- tidn and division in Grade 3. We also started learning about our country and the human body in science. Miss Jewitt even expanded our knowledge by teaching us about the Japanese culture. Some of us will never forget the new experience we shared when we first tasted seafood. Many of us enjoyed the games Mrs. Lobb did in Grade 4 whether it be a word of the week, a memory game or fun -songs.Everyone had fun in Grade 5 with Mrs. Speed and Mrs. Cronin. With Mrs. Speed we were awarded with pat time for. good behaviour and built interesting struc- tures in science. Mrs. Cronin made school fun with her piano playing and fun songs during music. It wasn't until our senior years at Blyth Public School that things became more of a challenge and we learned new techniques and skills. In Grade 6 Mrs. Gross gave us determi- nation to do our best with her many assignments, tests and work. While some of us had Mrs. Gross a second year others of us had Mrs. Hulley in Grade 7. We will never forget the sound of her voice booming down the hall. I know many of you dislike French and wonder why we have to learn it so I thank Mrs. Drennan for putting up with us and giving us help with those complicated verbs. Thanks also goes out to Mr. Moir for teaching us self-confidence and self-esteem during gym and health class and also to Mrs-. Laurie, our principal, and Mrs. Watt our sec- retary. The biggest impact on our lives at Blyth Public School is probably Grade 8. Ms LoStracco has prepared us for high school and helped us to reach our goals. She also helped us in band while we were struggling to learn how to play our instrument. Special thanks goes out to her for making our last year an enjoyable one. Through the years our class has matured, learned to get along with each other and helped one another.[ will never forget Danny's confi- dence, how Nick is always tripping over things, Tassi and Tasha's con- stant chatting through class, Greg's ability to make everyone laugh, Kyle's neatness, Allison's awesome homeruns, Mitch's arguments, Jimmy's hard work on Peacemakers' or the way John towers over every- one. Through cheers of happiness, tears of sadness and those embarrassing moments that we hope everyone will forget we have made it. Congratulations everyone. The advice I will leave you is follow your dreams and be the best you can be.
