FROM BRUSSELS At the Branch Grade Ss test new dance floor By Jo-Ann McDonald It was busy around the Brussels Legion Branch this weekend. Hope you were able to drop in and take part in something. The floor upstairs has been refin- ished and it looks great. The lucky first ones to see it were the Brussels Grade 8 graduates and their families who held their graduation there on Monday. Going back to Friday night supper, a great crowd enjoyed chicken wings and salads. They really were delicious. This Friday will be sausage and scalloped potatoes. Everyone is welcome. Saturday afternoon euchre was well attended with 10 tables at play. The first place players were Vera Ahrens and Marjorie Smith. Coming in second were Neil Hatt and Edna McLellan and pulling in third place were Eileen Sellers and Marie Stewart. The lucky lone hand win- ners were Stuart Chamney and Aldeen. Euchre is every two weeks. It was a lovely afternoon on Sunday for the cemetery decoration service. The gravestones at the Brussels Cemetery had beautiful flo- ral arrangements and looked lovely. Thanks to all who took time to remembet and place flowers on their loved ones' stones. There were about 50 who attended the service to reflect. Representatives of the Brussels Anglican, United, Presbyterian, Walton United and Brussels Branch 218 read the names of their members who have passed away this past year. Rev. Joan Golden led in prayer and the Act of Remembrance was observed by all. Thanks to all who attended. A light lunch and fellowship were enjoyed back at Branch 218 after the service. A NOTE FROM BETTY By Betty Graber Watson Call 887-6236 887-9231 Sunshine - Sunshine — thoughts of John Denver songs were whirling about on Saturday as new paint was hitting the walls and shelves at the 5Rs. Thanks to Nancy MacDonald Exel and the Oldfields we have a nice new spiffy yellow interior. Eleven questionable characters gave up their time to clean, paint and arrange the stole. Thanks from the board of directors! We now have new stories to be retold at another time. Oh„the chat- ter that comes while working! So if you're feeling blue, come in and vol- unteer at our new buttercup yellow location. That would be you, blue, if you didn't get your Blyth ticket to the Donnelly show. So get going and call now for the upcoming play of your choice (or all five would be even better for you). The promotions for the next four plays sound like the material could have come from Huron County. We can watch truck drivers, plumbers, eccentric folk, music, municipal business, law and order and the rest of life in general. But it is so funny to watch, so don't be caught without a ticket. Roll up your sleeve on Thursday — yes that's June 28 and come to the laminate signs and other informa- tion. The work that I did in the engi- neering department was interesting and I have learned a lot about draw- ings (blueprints) and also about Wescast, North Huron. I chose co-op because I thought it would be a great experience and I would learn more about the "work- ing_world" and not just about school. I hoped to gain lots of experience and knowledge about Wescast and truck from J.L. McCutcheon Motors for $27,772.15. *** Dunlop Street in Tuckersmith Ward and a road in Dublin in McKillop Ward will be closed. BMG arena between 5 and 8:30 p.m. to donate your blood. I also felt this will help me make my decision regarding my career in either police foundations or computers. Co-op is a great idea and I would recommend it to all final-year stu- dents interested in learning more about the "working world"!
