Six young people celebrated their
first communion following their
confirmation in Knox United
Church, Belgrave, on Sunday, June
3. Dorothy Coultes, clerk of session
introduced Josh Bruton, Chris
Cottrill, Leisa McClory, Cody
McGee, Carl Procter, and Jeremy
Robinson to the congregation, and
following the laying on of hands,
they were presented with a new
Bible.
The congregation also welcomed
Barbara Pletch, as a new member by
transfer of membership. The new
hymn books, Voices United, were
also dedicated at the beginning of
the service.
Rev. Ethel Miner Clare spoke on
being excited and confused, as she
spoke of all the questions raised by
the contirmands during their times
together, and the excitement of the
future for them. Each one took a part
in the service and each one assisted
the elders as communion was
served.
The anthem I Was There to Hear
Your Borning Cry was appropriate
for the day, as it referred to God
being with them all through the
stages of their lives.
