THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 6, 2001. Happy Gang plans for Seniors Games ROV LO\JESBORO Pentecost Sunday celebrated at United Church Sunday, June 3, was Pentecost Sunday, the celebration of the bir,h- day of the Christian Church. This is the time when Jesus' followers were filled with the Holy Spirit. Those who enjoyed coffee, juice and muffins prior to the service did so through the generosity of Jack and Helen Lee. Gordon Radford and Mary East greeted churchgoers and Carmen and Mary Ann Drost were the ushers. The service was- based on the theme for. 2001 for Camp Menesetung, "Jesus Is the Rock". In the storybag the children found a rock. It was emphasized that just as a rock lasts forever so will God's love for His people. The Old Testament scripture pas- sage recorded a conversation between Moses and God from Exodus 33: 17-23. In Matthew 7: 24- 27, Jesus tells an assembled crowd about the wisdom of building a house or a faith on a rock (Him), rather than on sand. Rev. Ross's message was titled Standing on the Rock of faith in God. The Board of Stewards offer assis- tance to youth attending either of the presbytery's camps.
