A 1979 Chevrolet pickup, stolen from Mitchell, was recovered in Blyth. The culprit(s) stole another vehicle, a 1988 Volkswagen Jetta, from a nearby residence. The culprit(s) then left that vehicle in a ditch near Blyth in the Municipality of Central Huron and stole a third vehicle, a 1999 Dodge Ram worth $30,000 from a nearby residence. This vehicle has not yet been recovered. Both of the vehicles stolen from the Blyth area were left unlocked. Meanwhile, OPP reported that over the weekend of May 25-26 there were numerous mailboxes damaged in Morris-Turnberry and Huron East. Some of the locations where damage 'was done are Browntown Rd., Jamestown Rd. and Brandon Rd. The number of dam- aged mailboxes exceeds 21 It appears the culprit(s) used a .baseball bat or similar device to cause the damage. Randy and Eleanor Babcock raise dogs so when the they learned about Dog Guides, a Lions Foundation of Canada .program which seeks ani- mals to train as aids for challenged individuals, they decided to partici- pate. Though offering dogs for various services, for three years, this is the first time one of their pups has made it through the extensive training process, said Randy Babcock. The process is not short. Chosen by representatives of -the program when just a pup, Zed, a chocolate lab, went to a host family who intro- duced him to appropriate sights and sounds, over a one-year period, After a medical check-up, Zed was sent to school where testing was completed over a course of weeks to determine how he responded in vari- On May 29 a resident of Morrison Line, Huron East reported that his unlocked shed had been entered and several items had been stolen.
