Threshers get
Trillium grant
for renovation
The Huron Pioneer Thresher
Reunion and Hobby Show will ben-
efit from grants provided by the
Ontario Trillium Foundation.
The organization will receive
$21,700 over a six-month period to
renovate a building currently used
during the three-day show in
September.
The monies will make the build-
ing , more accessible and available
for use by other community groups
throughout the year.
The Crossover Festival of Music
in Wingham will receive $41,500
over five months to upgrade lighting
and rigging in the Wingham Town
Hall Heritage Theatre to address
safety' concerns and meet the diverse
needs of professionals and amateurs
who use the facility.
The Celtic Roots Festival in
Goderich will be granted $15.000
over five months to assist with the
infrastructure development for the
festival.
The Huron Tourism Association
will get $60,000 over two years to
work with all sectors to develop pro-
grams that promote local arts, cul-
tural and heritage attractions.
The. Huron United Way will be
given $35,000 over 15 months to
upgrade its capacity to develop and
maintain donor, member and cam-
paign data and to develop effective
and efficient communications with
its partners.
Ontario Trillium Foundation
grants are used to promote the envi-
ronment, local arts and heritage,
support mental health programs for
youth economic development which
employs persons with developmen-
tal challenges, sports and recreation
and other community initiatives.

Plans discussed to close in drain

Nesbitt reported on a site meeting
for the Whitfield Drain at the May
Mason family
holds reunion
One hundred and eleven attended
the 20th annual Mason family
reunion held at Walton Hall, June 3.
A family of 17-18 came dressed
as shocking punk rockers to enjoy a
delicious potluck dinner with the
rest of the families.
While Lavern Jamieson and
Laurie Williamson entertained the
little children with games and
prizes, the older children and adults
enjoyed playing baseball.
Guests were present from
Goderich, London, Brampton,
Kitchener, Blyth, Listowel and sur-
rounding districts.
