Thirteen women from the Huron-
Perth Presbyterial of the Women's
Missionary Society attended the two-
day Southwestern Ontario Synodical
held in Chedoke Church in Hamilton
in April. The theme of the meeting
was A Mountaintop Experience.
There were 192 delegates and guests
registered.
Carol Mackowski, Southampton,
presided. The worship on Tuesday
was in charge of Bruce-Grey
Presbyterial and on Wednesday in
charge of Paris Presbyterial.
On Tuesday evening Hamilton
Presbyterial presented a skit with
costumed participants representing
biblical women - Lot's wife, Sarah,
Leah, Mrs. Pharoah, Martha,
Herodius, Delilah and Mrs. Noah.
Doris Rome gave the commentary
on the human values that they repre-
sented - covetousness, faith, rejec-
tion, stress, fretting, grudging, and
lust.
The Rev. John-Peter Smit of
Chedoke Church conducted a very
impressive communion service.
Guest speakers were Beth
Macintosh who, with her husband,
has been a missionary with the
Koreans in Japan, and the Rev.
Roger Hunter from the Boarding
Homes Ministry, an international
ministry that since 1996 has been a
faith ministry of the Presbyterian
Church. The Ministry links congre-
gations with mostly mentally chal-
lenged people through home visita-
tions by two or three persons.
On Wednesday morning the Bible
study was conducted by Rev.
Heather Vais. It dealt not only with
mountaintop experiences, but with
the valleys of disappointment and
despair.
Attending the Synodical from
Huron-Perth Presbyterial , were Jean
Edmunds, Shirley Aitcheson, Betty
Dow, Bernice Richardson, Phyllis
Thompson, Edna Simmons, Janet
Gibson, Jean Sangster, Gwyneth
Whilsmith, Evelyn Matheson,
Madeleine Edward, Ruth Laing and
Eunice Bisset.

The weather may not have co-operated for a Maytime sup-
per, but hungry diners turned out to enjoy the feast prepared
at Melville Church on Sunday night. Helen Gallop and
Stewart Musgrove were among those dishing up the tasty
fare. (Vicky Bremner photo)
