PAGE 16. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, MAY 23, 2001. ROBERT RUSSELL. ROSS Mr. Russell Ross of Wingham passed away at Braemar Retirement Centre, Wingham on Sunday, May 20, 2001. He was 83. Mr. Ross was the beloved husband On Saturday, May 5, several groups of mostly students gathered together for the United Way's Second Annual Day of Caring. These students participated by volunteering in projects, that help make their community a better place to live. This was, a county-wide event with teams in Clinton, Goderich, Exeter and Wingham. The volunteer projects included painting play equipment at the Kinsmen Park and gardening and painting at Huronview, in Clinton; pouring tea at the Exeter Villa; working on a butterfly garden and complete trail in Wingham and in Goderich doing cleanup work on the Menesetung Bridge and area. of the late Erma Caslick who prede- ceased him in 1995. He was the dear father of Doris and Jim Taylor of RR5, Wingham and Jim and Donna Ross of Kitchener and grandfather of Trisha and Mark Wickhorst, Sherry This array of work demonstrates youth commitment to their commu- nities. The Day of Caring was organized last year by Huron County Youth to help their peers complete their 40- hour community service require- ment, better their communities, and of course, have fun. Sydney Anderson, United Way board member, said, "Over 40 youth and adults participated in the Day of Caring this year and the projects reg- istered were doubled. Visitation was at McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham on Tuesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Rev. John P. Vaudry will offici- ate. Interment will be in Wingham Cemetery, Wingham. Memorial donations to - the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated as expressions of sym- pathy.
