In memoriam
ALCOCK. In loving memory of
our dear son and brother Kevin.
who left us May 14, 1996.
We'll always remember the way
you looked,
The way you spoke and smiled.
The little things you said and did,
Are with us all the while.
You meant so very much to us,
And nothing we can say,
Will tell of the sadness in our
hearts,
As we live each day.
Memories don't fade they just grow
deep,
For the one we loved but could not
keep.
Life goes on we know that's true,
But it's just not the same without
you.
— Forever loved and deeply missed
by Mom, Dad and Connie. 20-1 p
APPLEBY. To a dear brother and
uncle, Bill Appleby who passed
away four years ago May 19.
We think of you in silence,
We often speak your name,
All we have are memories,
And your picture in a frame.
This day is remembered and quietly
kept
No words are needed, we never
forget.
For those we love do not go away,
They walk-beside us everyday.
— Lovingly remembered by Lloyd,
Thelma, Marguerite, Don and
families. 20-lp
BOWES. In memory of Irvin, a
dear husband, father, grandfather
and great-grandfather who passed
away May 15, 2000.
My life goes on without you,
But nothing is the same.
I have to hide my heartache,
When someone speaks your name.
The joys we shared together,
Are the memories I hold dear.
The happiness you once gave me,
Keeps you forever near.
And now our daughters and sons-
in-law take good care of me.
One thing we know, you will
remain,
In our hearts forever
Until we meet again.
— Lovingly remembered by wife

THOMPSON. In loving memory of
Robert, who passed away May 19,
1995.
Down the path of memories
We gently trod today.
Our loving thoughts are with you,
As time goes on its way.
No matter how our lives may
change,
Or whatever we may do,
We shall never forget those
precious times,
The ones we spent with you.

A new organization is sick of
seeing closed signs on Lake Huron's
beaches.
The Lake Huron Watershed Clean-
up Team has been set up to combat
the pollution in Lake Huron.
"Our main objective is to do
something, not to talk, not to point
fingers," founding member Klause
Keunecke said.
People have no idea how polluted
the beaches really are, Keunecke
said. At the group's first meeting
they identified sources of pollution
lVebsites
in Lake Huron.
These include chemical and
pesticide runoff into lakes and rivers
that drain into the lake, cottages
whose sewage drains directly into
the lake, and repeated spills of raw
sewage from treatment plants.
The group wants to see this
change. They want flawed liquid
manure technology and bad
septic systems to stop being
used. They want people to stop
dumping toxic chemicals down the
drain and they want buffer zones on
rivers, where the land can't be used
so toxic chemicals do not directly
flow into the watershed of Lake
County to hire
ambulance
administrator
following
report
Huron County will wait until after
receiving a report on the first three
months of operating its ambulance
service before hiring an
administrator for the system.
Council delayed beginning the
hiring process after Jon Hambides,
the county's consultant on the
ambulance service, explained his
report. due next month, will
recommend an organizational
structure which will include a job
description for the administrator.
Rob Morley, South Huron
councillor argued to have the
process go ahead, saying when the
consultant's report is received
someone will still have to run the
system. Currently a team including
Hambides, County Clerk-
Administrator Lynn Murray and
County Engineer Sandra Lawson are
supervising the service. Morley
complained a delay might mean
retaining Hambides services (at
$110 an hour) for longer than
necessary.
Huron.
"We are all part of the problem and
we all have to be part of the
solution," Keunecke said.
At the rate things are going,
Keunecke said, Lake Huron will not
be swimable for future generations.
There is just too much pollution
going into it now, he said.
While the team is busy thinking of
possible solutions to clean up the
lake up and prevent pollution in the
future, there is an immediate need
for more members.
"We want grassroots participation
from all walks of life and ages,"
Keunecke said.
Afternoon tea
It was a lovely afternoon last Friday when the many
mothers at Huronlea in Brussels gathered with family and
friends for the Mother's Day Tea. Doris Fischer, centre,
helped serve the tasty treats, while Jane DeVries, right, and
Jean Bridge enjoyed the event.
