Obituaries
SPENCE SCOTT
Spence Scott of Brussels. passed
away at his residence on Thursday.
May 3, 2001. He was in his 72nd
year.
Born on June 3, 1929 on the 2nd
Line of Morris Twp. and schooled at
the Stone School in Morris Twp.,
Spence was the son of the late
William and Norma Scott, and the.
beloved husband of the former Nelva
Osmond.
Spence was a past master of
Wingham Lodge No. 286 A.F. &
A.M., a member of the Royal Arch
Masons. Lebanon Chapter No. 84.
and past patron of Huron Chapter
No. 89 OES.
Spence was a lover of nature and
camping. He was a very loving and
giving person. His efforts to beautify
the village can be seen throughout
the town's flowerbeds.
Spence will be sadly missed by his
wife Nelva and children Brian Scott
and his wife Anne, of Lambeth. Jim.
Scott and his wife Kim of Mitchell
and MaryAnne Bone and her hus-
band Murray of Brussels. He was the
brother of Lloyd Scott of Braemar,
Wingham and Poppa to his six grand-
children. Spence was predeceased by
his son Larry and brothers and sis-
ters.
At Spence's request there was no
funeral home visitation. Crenytion
has taken place.
A celebration of the life of Spence
Scott was conducted from Brussels
United Church on Monday, May 7 at
11 a.m. with Mrs. Joan Golden offi-
ciating. A eulogy remembering
Spence was given by Hank Ten Pas.
Scripture readings were read by
Linda Rosart and Joan Bordash.
As an expression of sympathy,
memorial donations may be made to
Brussels United Church.
Arrangements were entrusted to
the Schimanski Family Funeral
Home.
CHARLES ELMER TRICK
A lifelong resident of Goderich
Twp. and the Town of Clinton,
Charles Elmer Trick died in Clinton
Public Hospital May I, 2001, after a
brief illness. in his 94th year.
Born in Goderich Twp. as the only
child of Robert Trick and Florence
May Trick (Lott), at the farm and
mill site on Lot 39, Bayfield
Concession, he operated the mill and
farm until he retired with his wife
Mary to Clinton, in 1968.
Always an avid naturalist, he
enjoyed,fishing, trapping and observ-
ing wildlife in the local streams and
forests. He was a director of the
North Bay Fur Auctions for 18 years,
serving during part of that time as
chairman of the finance committee.
He supported good conservation
practices throughout his life, serving
on the board of the Maitland Valley
Conservation Authority for 10 years,
and receiving in 1993 a conservation
award from the Ausable Bayfield
Conservation Authority.
He was also a recipient of the
Norman Alexander Conservation
Award granted by the Huron County
Soil and Crop Improvement
Association.
He was a member of the Ontario
Street United Church.
Elmer was the beloved husband of
Mary (Grigg) Trick. He was the dear
father of William Trick and .his wife
Thea of RR3, Clinton and Robert
Trick and his wife Sylvia of RR 1 ,
Londesboro. He was also loved and
will be sadly missed by four grand-
children Julia Trick-Fountain and her
husband Cory Fountain of Dallas.
Texas. Thomas Trick of Red Lake.
Ontario, William Trick of Toronto
and Karen Trick of Kitchener, and
one great-grandson Adam Fountain.
Friends were received at the
Beattie-Falconer Funeral Home Ltd.,
Clinton where the funeral service
was held on Friday, May 4 at 2 p.m.
Interment followed in the Clinton
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandsons
Thomas Trick and William Trick Jr.,
nephews Alan Grigg, Murray Grigg
and Steve Cooke and neighbour
Gordon Glen. Flowerbearers were
granddaughters Julia Trick-Fountain
and Karen Trick.
Donations to the Ontario Street
United Church, Clinton, Easter Seals
Society or to the Maitland Valley
Conservation Authority would be
appreciated as expressions of sympa-
thy.
GLORIA ELIZABETH VODDEN
Gloria Elizabeth Vodden (nree
Clark) of London, formerly of
Brussels passed away peacefully at
Parkwood Hospital surrounded by
family on Tuesday, May 1, 2001. She
was 73.
Mrs. Vodden was predeceased by
her husband Murray Vodden in 1980.
She is survived by her loving com-
panion Robert Hainsworth. and \k as
the stepmother of Rory and her hus-
band Michael Hurlock and grand-
mother of Rob and Stephanie Clarke.
Vern and Kim Clarke, Jason and Niki
Clarke, Jeremy and Kristi Clarke
and Amber Hurlock. She was the
aunt of Brad Vodden and his wife
Barb and Bev Vodden.
Mrs. Vodden will also be sadly
missed by her special friend Helen
Mercer. her six great-grandchildren,
seven great-nieces and nephews and
many friends and family.
The funeral service was conducted
in the Lloyd R. Needham Funeral
Chapel, 520 Dundas St., London on
Friday, May 4 at 10 a.m.
Interment was in Mount Pleasant
Cemetery, Ethel.
