Policing has been a difficult deci- sion. With the amalgamation. the province says we can no longer receive two different levels of serv- ice. I believe the decision taken May I to put in place a contract service for the whole of Huron East is a good one. To continue the type of service THE EDITOR, I believe the Christian Reformed Church deserves much credit for their sponsorship of the non-compet- itive Blyth CRC Tyke hockey team as reported in April 25 Citizen. The hockey skills and good sports- manship attitudes taught will benefit these young players greatly. I con- gratulate the coaches and parents for By Janice Becker Citizen staff The rezoning of a property in Walton was passed with little discus- sion at the May I session of Huron East council. Though Jo-Ann McDonald and Judy . Lee, representing the Walton Hal-I board, were present, there were few questions asked as council con- sidered the rezoning to convert Pt. Lot 27. The OPP were suggesting a service that would cost $1.01.3.(X)0. Council has taken a mid-line posi- tion with a contract for $959,000. It is expected the Community Reinvestment Fund (CRF) money provided by the province will help council address some of this cost. Surely many parents who now drive their children miles to partici- pate in hockey would be glad to have some houseleague where players could have non-competitive fun games locally. Ruth Jardin. The lot has been used for that pur- pose tor many years with agreement 'from the owners. There were no objections to the rezoning and a bylaw was passed to approVe the change. It is our wish to ensure all employees are treated fairly and with respect and dignity. We are presently devel- oping an Employee Information Booklet and we hope to have it ready for employees in the near future. Please be patient With us. It's On its way. At this point, administration is working diligently towards the com- pletion of Huron East's first budget. I expect this will take more time to review than budget preparations and THE EDITOR, On the evening of April 20 I took a walk with my grandson and his dog along the Greenway Path; as usual I selected the part of the trail that pass- es by the area where my son Tyler's memorial. tree is planted. I found the hydrangea tree snapped in several pieces. It will not recover! This_ tree was placed in memory of my son by the Blyth United Church choir and youth group. If this was a senseless act of vandalism with no regard to monetary or sentimental value. it's indeed a shame. I believe whoever did this doesn't realize that it was indeed planted in memory of someone as the plaque was not as yet in place. It wold be extremely considerate of whoever is responsible to come forward and see a wrong righted. Linda Wilson. reviews of the past. Your Council will want to take a long hard look at each section •to determine what has been the practice of the past and what our new municipality is plan- ning for 2(X)I as well as the future. Amalgamation did generate con- siderable dollar savings. However, it is impossible to run Huron East on those decreased dollars. Rest assured, the needs of the whole com- munity will be taken into account and prioritized in order to ensure value received for the money spent. Wdrk is ongoing.
