Heritage hymn service theme at Knox United
The service at Knox United on
April 22 was a heritage hymn serv-
ice. Throughout it, familiar hymns of
years ago were sung.
The children came to the front and
Happy Birthday was sung for two
children. Rev. Paul Ross spoke to
them concerning conservation.
Scripture was from Psalm 149. In
II Chronicles 29 the Levites wor-
shipped the Lord with song before a
burnt offering. Then in Ephesians 5
people are reminded to sing to the
Lord and thank him in song for all
his goodness. The last scripture was
from Matthew 26. Jesus offered
sacrament to the disciples and said
that it was his body and his blood.
Rev. Ross's sermon was on the
hymns and on the authors of them.
Margaret Bakker and Robert
Worsell received and presented the
offering.
Bible Study is cancelled for this
week.

I'm sorry to say that I made an
error regarding Dorothy Grange's
horticultural award. It was a volun-

had been active in the former for
many years.
Of course she had also held the lat-

There was a celebration for Kay
and Ell Lapp of Auburn recently
when they marked their 55th wed-
ding anniversary with family and
friends.
Kay (Catherine) Wood and Elliott
Lapp were wed in Sparta, Ont. April
19, 1946.
Rev. G. Barnard officiated at the
ceremony while Mrs. Lapp's sister
Irma Gerondin and Mr. Lapp's
brother Dick Lapp -served as atten-

With three planning matters before
council, members of the Ashfield-
Colborne-Wawanosh council held a
public meeting prior to the regular
session, April 3.
An objection to an official plan
amendment and zoning bylaw
amendment for Benmiller Holdings
Corp. was received from Donald
McKee.
Huron County Senior Planner
Scott Tousaw presented his report
and recommendations as well as
commenting on the objection.
Maitland Valley Conservation
Authority had also submitted a
report.
Council tabled the zoning bylaw
amendment, but approved ..the offi-
cial plan amendment, pending coun-
ty approval, so the two properties
involved could be split into separate
applications.
With regards to a rezoning applica-

A dinner was held at the China
Palace and the following evening
another gathering was held at the
farm. The Denys and Lapp fafhilies

tion for Philip Riley and Marilyn
Cosway, council asked that the appli-
catants sign a development agree-
ment acknowledging that the access
road has no winter maintenance.
Riley was not prepared to do so at
that time. He hoped council would
consider maintaining the road in the
future.
Council deferred any decision
until a development agreement is
signed.
There were no comments with
respect to a rezoning application for
the township office other than the
planner's report.
Taking into consideration recom-
mendations from the planner, the
rezoning for the township office was
approved.
