The Walton Venture Centre held
its open house on April 19 with
around 35 people attending.
Barmy Tech Canvas Bags had a
big display featuring some of its
wares. A lot of people like me
thought that Barmy Tech only pro-
duced canvas bags, but the thriving
business makes much more than
that.
For instance they make lunch
bags, tote bags, oven mitts, pencil
cases and many more items.
The rest of the building was open
for people to wander through and
see the rooms that were available for
business rental.
Marie McGavin said that people
had some good suggestions for pos-
sible businesses that could be set up
in the building.

Community residents came out to see what was new at the
old Walton Public School, now the Walton Venture Centre,
when an open house was held last Thursday. Phyllis
Mitchell, left, and Gail Tully check out the Barmy Tech dis-
play. (Vicky Bremner photo)

McGavins greet at Duff's United
Marie and Neil McGavin greeted
worshippers at Duff's United on
April 22.
Joan Tuchlinsky welcomed every-
one and the new Introit Spirit of Life
was sung.
Ms Tuchlinsky announced that the
next WUCC meeting will be May 2
with Mark Bachert talking about El
Salvador. It should be a very inter-
esting night, so bring a friend and
come and enjoy.
Brian Black announced that the
community musical The Rock Singer
and his Greatest Hit is going well
and the girls are really working hard.
But we need a few more young peo-
ple to fill all the parts. So far we have
had to use two adults. One is that
famous, legend in his own mind,
Graeme Craig as the King. The other
person is Jim Cook as the mean and
ugly and scary and hairy Goliath. So
far he has one of his lines down pat
... "Curse you, you little magot!
If there are any interested youth
please give Brian or Patty a call.
The choir sang the communion
hymn, Come Gather Here.
The sermon was called Power to
the People.
Communion was served by
Dianne and Paul McCallum, Joan
Tuchlinsky and Leona McDonald.
