Duff's congregation dramatizes Easter events FROM WALTON Audrey and Howard Hackwell greeted worshippers attending Duff's United Church Easter Morning Service on April 15. Adam McClure passed out containers of spices to people. These spices would have been used to prepare Jesus's body for burial. Joan Tuchlinsky welcomed Well I can now add another new experience to my list of 'experiences to remember' or 'forget', I'm not quite sure yet. But I attended my first Buck and Doe Saturday night in Seaforth for John Huether. Now, I wasn't sure what to expect. everyone and during the singing of Were You There? Jennifer McClure and Nadine Ringgenberg, playing the part of the two women who helped with the preparation of Jesus's body collected the spices from people. Cassandra Banks playing the part of the angel at the empty tomb asked the two women why they were looking among the dead for the living. They were told that Jesus had risen. The hymn Jesus Christ is Risen Today was sung. Then from out,of nowhere stuffed animals began to adorn the church, balloons were hung, real live chicks were placed on top of the piano, and the Easter banner hung. The place came alive with celebration. The adult choir sang, Once Upon a Tree, then Crystal Gibbons read Luke 24: 1-12. Ms Tuchlinsky announced that the flowers on top of the piano were placed there in memory of Berva Watson who passed away recently. Next Sunday communion will be served. The junior choir did a great job of From various reports I wasn't sure whether to wear a suit of armour or rubber boots and rainwear. Ear plugs sounded like a good idea as well and good, supportive foot wear as I was told you had to stand around and visit. So my high heels were left at home and jeans instead of a dress were put on. I don't know if Buck and Does are all like this one but I had a wonderful time and by the looks of things I'm sure I wasn't the only one. Yes, near the end the music seemed to have risen to the level where earplugs could have come in handy and yes, a pair of rubber boots would have given me better footing but it was all marvelous fun. singing, This is The Day that God Has made. Adam McClure led everyone in the opening prayer. Bethany Black read from the book of Isaiah and Laura Black read the Psalm reading. The dramatic presentation was done by Joan reading the story from The Observer with young people volunteering to act out the parts as she read. Jeff Black was the King, Bethany Black was the Jester and Brad Finlayson played the part of the Strong Man. The adult choir sang Rose, of Sharon. Jeff Black gave the offering invitation and Geoffrey Banks and Murray Dennis took up the offering. James Durrell gave the prayer of thanksgiving, and following the closing hymn, Mark Wilbee gave the Benediction and Blessing. A big thanks to Heidi McClure who helped prepare the service.
