Blob and District Lions Club Fill Your Easter Baskets with SEMI Et SPICE lhocoiatr-Y & Candy By Bonnie Gropp Citizen staff Following a presentation by repre- sentatives from Wheels Away at the April 2 meeting, North Huron coun- cillors moved to support the service for the upcoming year. Blyth had not had participation in the service over the past and thus that village council had opted out of the service. Office Manager Dianne Grummett, however, explained that there may be more residents from Blyth interested now that the bound- aries have changed for the transit service. Also, Grummett added that users of non-member communities pay more, thus Blyth residents who had expressed interest had found the cost to be too high. For example a ride to Lucknow from Wingham would be $5.50 one way. For people living in non-member communities a sur- charge of $4 is added to this. The per capita cost for North Huron would be $1,506.50 plus $3 a ride. Noting the usage for Wingham and East Wawanosh, Deputy-Reeve Jeff Howson felt that for the money, it was maybe time to see if Blyth resi- dents were interested. Councillor Euchre results There were four tables less one player at Blyth's euchre party. Following the meal Brock played more entertaining music. Everyone joined in singing. Some ladies, Isabel Craig, co-ordi- nator Dianne Weber, Lois Haines, Janet Lawrie, Charlene Foxton, Margaret Radford and Lillian Handy. decorated an Easter bonnet. They were asked to walk around the room for others to judge. Although it was a tough decision to make, Janet Lawrie, Isabel Craig and Margaret Radford were chosen as the winners ... very similar to picking names out of a hat. Happy birthday to Dianne Weber who will be one year older this month. Special congratulations go out to Mr. and Mrs. Hank Dyk who will be celebrating their 43rd anniversary while Elliot and Kay Lapp will be reaching their 55th anniversary. Compliments of the Seaforth Manor, two Easter prizes were donat- ed. A beautiful Easter Lily went to Dan McInnis with Sally deBoer as the recipient of a lovely ornament. This month Mildred Lawlor won the door prize, while Effie McCall was the winner of the 50/50 draw, Dianne introduced Elinor Clarke who displayed her spinning, which she has been doing for 18 years.. Numerous lovely garments, including the beautiful sweater she was wear- ing, were on display. She demonstrat- ed how yarn was made starting from scratch. She explained that wool is the soft. curly crisp hair obtained from fleece of the sheep and some allied animals. In turn the material made from this is then used on a spinning wheel. This device spins the yarn or thread obtained from the wool. Elinor also showed a drop spindle, the type that was used in the 14 and 15 century. All of this was familiar for Toni Vos who is an active spinner herself. Mrs. Clarke is planning to go to China later this year to demonstrate and donation clothing she has made. Afterwards, the advisory board held a meeting to update all the plans for future activities.
