Even the clock had to be tended this year before you could relax on Sunday. I'm hoping you 'got' at least one person. The folks at Braemar did. They quickly got in the mood. I really think Iona got them started. The snowdrops are in good supply this week. Now the watching of spring flowers begins. There have been lots of home and garden shows advertised to whet your appetite for more gardening. Listowel's is com- ing up next week so if you need another push to spring that would do it. Vacation plans are in the air as hol- idays get booked for the next season. Choices, choices, and so much to do in so little time. It's a wonderful dilemma — pondering maps and brochures and stories. Oh, to dream, to dream. D Easter week, the high point of the Christian Year is nigh. Check the paper for all the ways we celebrate this Holy season and join your friends at church. I just finished perusing this week's McLean's mag- azine and the editorial hits on this subject. Once again someone needed to compare us to our American neighbours. We don't even spell the same. And surprise, surprise, we have some very fundamental differ- ences. Canadians as a nation do not attend chtirch but as a whole we are much more accepting of our differ- ences and see life in a secular fash- ion. As a nation we apply the princi- ples of Christianity-loving and shar- ing, even trusting. Our views are very different from the majority to the south when we think of government as necessary, "even crucial". Of course our health care system is the prime example of our need to totally share our resources. We are seen as a polite society that views peace and humili- ty as good things. So celebrate this Holy week where you are — but be thankful that you are Canadian and maybe you should try the church thing. You might like it. Sheila Richards had such a fine time in France vacationing that since she came home she's been sick. She tells me it was still worth it. Are you getting your income tax papers in order—April 30 is coming! Enjoy the grit of spring. Bye now. Betty G. W.
