Kindergarten students from Sacred Heart Separate School in Wingham proudly display some
of the letters which will be mailed to family, friends, neighbours and shut-ins over the next few
weeks as the children share their joys in life with those who could use a little love. It is part of
their celebration of Easter. In back, from left: Alex Schmidt, Alexandra Peyton, Mary Kate

"A servant attitude makes people
just like Jesus," Rev. Dow said. He
told how Jesus viewed himself more
as a servant than a master.
He told the congregation, "Just
like Jesus said, those who humble
themselves will be exalted."
THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 28, 2001. PAGE 11.
The sermon topic at Blyth United
Church on March 25, 2001 was
Kingdom Attitude: Beware the
Servant. Switcheroo.
Rev. Dow told of how "our Lord
emphasized that his followers need
to have an attitude of a humble ser-
vant.
He then explained four ways to
accomplish this.
Jesus calls on people to demon-
strate servanthood in sin-avoidance
and forgiveness. Rev. Dow spoke of
how our actions can sometimes
tempt someone else to sin.
He also told how people are to for-
give those who have sinned against
The March 19 meeting of the
Melville Presbyterian WMS was
held at the home of the president
Helen Elliott. Six members were
present. Mrs. Elliott was leader for
devotion. Change, Forgiveness,
Justice, Liberation, Restoration are
all sections of A New Beginning for
2001.
Numerous scripture verses were
read by Mary Huether, Leona
Armstrong and Marguerite Krauter
pertaining to the sections.
The offerings were received and
the offertory prayer was given by
_Mrs. Elliott. Mrs. Huether, secretary,
read her report. This was followed
by the treasurer's report by Leona
Armstrong. A thank you letter was
also read from the Presbyterian
Church Office in thanks for money
sent to Missions. •
The new president for the area is
Marilyn McIntyre of Kinloss.
Thankoffering envelopes for Easter
are to be handed out Sunday, April 8.
The twin organization for this year
is Kincardine. April 29 is the WMS
church service.
The next meeting will be April 9 at
the home of Leona Armstrong with
spring flowers for roll call.
Mrs. Elliott passed around some
books with topics in them for mem-
bers to peruse. She then read some
thoughts on Lent written by Rev.
them.
Jesus invited people to take on a
servant attitude in doing what they
ought to do. Rev Dow told how the
faithful servant does what they ought
to do, without expectation of reward,
regardless of whether someone's
watching or not."
Jesus draws our attention to the
blessing and honour of a humble
attitude. From Luke 14:7-14 Rev.
Dow said if a person is invited to a
feast they should not take a place of
honour, but pick the lowest place.
"For everyone who exalts himself
will be humbled, and he who hum-
bles himself will be exalted."
Waite entitled So' What! It is a time
of addition when people hopefully
will grow in faith, hope and love to
be able to appreciate what God did
for them through his Son.
