By Jo-Ann McDonald Wonderful, delicious, fantastic were all the words heard at the fish fry on Saturday. Almost 150 people enjoyed the dinner. The weather was- n't great but the crowd was. The entertainment by Mike Kalbfleisch's One Man Show was enjoyed by everyone, young and old. March is in the home stretch now. It's given us everything it could in the form of weather variations and as for me I've had more than enough. I'm ready for warmth and bright- ness; and more than prepared for less gravel and dirt in my snow. Bring on the spring! I think the folks of this house need to fast. It was one of those weeks that rich, calorie-laden food was part of the many activities. The week started with a nice visit with Uncle The honours and awards monies were attended by a nice crowd. Comrades received service pins as well as service bars. Special guests were District Commander Steve McClure and Zone Commander Eric Ross. Special recip- ient of the 55 year service pin was Comrade Ross Bennett. Donald and Aunt Vi that was topped with dinner at Robindale's. The Lodge Chicken Dinner was Wednesday then Friday was a potluck celebration for the Workman birthday and Saturday we celebrated Val and Lara's March birthdays at the Fireside, Oh my, what a week of glorious food. I'm stuffed! The school council has a Regal sales campaign in process. Profits will buy ne6v playground equipment. Contact the students before May 11 to study the Regal book and support our school. Don't forget that April is an early dismissal day. Former Brussels resident Susan Meyers, is travelling across the country as president of the Kinettes, witnessing the tremendous works undertaken by both that club and the Kinsmen. The daughter of George and Pat Langlois, Meyers, elected to the post last August, is touring with Kinsmen President Neville Greeley of Newfoundland for 10 days, visiting clubs and participating in numerous events. Aside from flying from coast-to- coast, Meyers and Greeley also attended a gathering in Atlanta, Georgia, where volunteer leaders from around the world launched International Year of the Volunteer. As I'm writing this, the birds are flitting about the spruce trees as if it's spring, despite the fact that the branches are still laden with the white stuff, so I'm hopeful that they Initiation was also held Saturday night with Comrades Albert Kitchen, Dianne Go11 and Andy Adams being initiated. Friday night's supper was lasagna. The cooking bee held a few weeks ago had some great cooks at the Branch 'whip up delicious dishes. This week is cabbage rolls. know the warm winds are coming. The spring events are starting to be advertised so get your calendar marked. You don't want to miss any of the good things that happen - games, dinners, speakers, exercises, concerts to name but a few. It may be hard to support them all but don't miss the choice. Bye now, Betty G. W. Turning Heads & Making Waves will be closed April 9th - April 17th due to surgery. I hope to reopen April 17th. I will be booking appointments during my time off. Sorry for any inconvenience. Janice Machan The usual events of the week as well as extra meetings are on the schedule for the next few weeks. The downstairs lounge is open for smaller meetings most every night. Just call the Branch and inquire. Important events for April and May are the Ladies Stag and the Casino bus tour. Folks enjoy tasty meals at Legion
