There are so many people out there who do
so much to improve their community.
Now you have a chance to say thanks.
Nominate that special person for the 15th
Annual Citizen Citizenship Awards.
Each year a committee chooses an outstanding citizen from each of
the Blyth and area and Brussels and area communities to receive an
award for contribution to the community. if you know someone you
think should be honoured, please fill in the ballot and send it in. You
may attach a longer explanation of why you think your nominee
should win, if you like. If you have nominated someone before and
he or she didn't win, please feel free to try again.

Family, friends turn out to celebrate woman's 98th
farm in Hibbert Twp., south of
Dublin. In the fall of 1929 Tom,
Winnie and their daughter Amy
moved to a farm, south of Belgrave.
In 1932 they were blessed with
another daughter Irene. The family
has grown today to include four
grandchildren, six great-grandchil-
dren and five great-great-grandchil-
dren.
Winnie and Tom retired to
Belgrave in 1956. Tom passed away
in 1962.
In 1967 Winnie married Albert
Vincent and continued living in
Belgrave. Mr. Vincent passed away
in 1974.
Owing to sickness in 1973, Winnie
moved to the home of her daughter
Amy and husband Ralph McCrea
where she resided until December
1999. AFter her having a fall, Amy
and Ralph felt they could no longer
provide the care she required so she
moved to the Seaforth Manor. She
enjoys the companionship of the
other residents and the activities that
are provided.

On March 10, Winnie Vincent cel-
ebrated her 98th birthday at the
Seaforth Manor with her family and
many friends at a come and go tea.
Mrs. Vincent was born in Reading
Bershire, England on March 10,
1903.
In 1912, the Allen family immi-
grated to Canada, settling on the sec-
ond concession of Morris Twp. The
family included mother and father,
John and Alice, sons Jack and
Charlie and three daughters Winnie,
Doris and Irene.
They tried to get passage on the
Titanic, but it was fully booked so
took passage on a later ship. On the
voyage across, they were shown the
area where the Titanic sank.
Winnie attended Browntown and
the Stone School.
Later the family moved to the
Motherwell area.
On March 28, 1924 Winnie mar-
ried Thomas Smith at the
Motherwell church and moved to a
