Bennetts greet at Duff's service
FROM WALTON
Karen Hoegy, Pearl McCallum,
Helen Williamson and Kathleen
Williams welcomed the ladies of the
WUCC to the meeting on March 7.
Helen opened the program
'with a reading called A Favourite
Recipe. Kathleen read the scripture
and two favourite hymns were sung
with Patty Banks at the piano. Helen

tractors and vehicles currently left

Deputy-Mayor Bernie MacLellan
said the municipality is in the process
of amalgamating property standard
bylaws and once completed, the poli-
cies would be enforced. He added that
those standards would be addressed
whether the bylaw was approved or
-not.
In response to environmental con-
cerns about painting vehicles, Chief
Building Official Paul Josling said
Fretz would have to have a booth and
meet all standards if he were to paint.
Both the Ministry of the Environment
and the Ministry of Labour have to
approve a paint booth.
Grey Councillor Alvin McLellan
spoke in support of Fretz, saying he
was trying to address all of his neigh-
bours' worries by constructing the
building and adhering to the 10 p.m.
curfew.
Fretz added that he is looking at an
airless system for painting to limit
spray as well as a water-based paint
for environmental reasons.
McLachlan noted the rezoning does
not change the primarily residential
use and it limits the business to two
employees in addition to the owner.
He said the concerns of neighbours
had been addressed and the bylaw
information was sent out as a cour-
tesy. "There is still the opportunity to
appeal to the Ontario Municipal
Board."
Ross and Margaret Bennett were
greeters at Duff's United Church on
March 11. Joan Tuchlinksy wel-
comed everyone and a new Introit
Lord Listen to Your Children
Praying was sung. She announced
that the Youth Group will be having
a bowling event on March 18 at 2
p.m. Call Shannon Gibbons at 887-
6169 for info.
During the children's time Josh
Biesinger, Jeff Black, James Durrell,
Adam McClure and Mark Wilbee
came forward and gave a dramatic
reading called Nowhere to Lay His
Head. Dianne McCallum read the
Hebrew scripture, Genesis 15: 11-
12. The sermon was In The Shelter
of God's Love.
did another reading called The
Legend of the Shamrock. Kathleen
read an article called Experiencing
Lent. Pearl closed with a prayer.
Karen challenged the ladies with a
quiz called How Well do you Know
Your Bible?
Karen and Monique Baan then
took charge of the business.
There were five tables of euchre in
play last Thursday at the Walton
Hall. Congratulations to Delores
Howatt and Margaret Anderson who
won first prize. George and Gloria
Love took home second prize and
Viola Kirkby and Jean Bewley won
the third prize.
If you happen to be strolling
downtown Walton, this week make
sure you check out the display win-
dow at Val's Custom Sewing and
Family Crafts. It seems that Val's
son Brody noticed that they did not
have a farm set in the kindergarten
room at Brussels Public School so he
asked if his mom and Jack could
make one and donate it to the school.
Well that is exactly what they did.
It is all made out of wood including
the tractor and the wagon, the farm
animals, and gangway. Brody insist-
ed that the tractor be painted
McGavin Blue.
Val said she has had fun doing all
the details on the barn. It is a must
see. Just ring the doorbell and she
will come and let you in to see it. It
will be in the window until school
starts.
