There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to
do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

The Blyth UCW met on Feb. 27 at
2 p.m.
Yvonne Dow and Susan Howson
were in charge of the worship and
study.
The worship was Jesus raising the
leader of the synagogue's daughter
from the dead.
The study was about three mission
groups: Operational Mobilization,
International Teams and Campus
Crusade.
At the end of July, Emily Dow is
going with Operation Mobilization
to Kosovo. This is short-term
Christian evangelizing. She will be
home in August.
This is the first trip into
Yugoslavia since the ethnic cleans-
ing war of the Eastern Orthodox
Christian Serbs against the primarily
Muslim Kosovars.
Ms Dow will be having her orien-
tation in Macedonia. Mrs. Dow
thanked those who have donated to
Emily's trip.
There will be a commissioning
service held at the church in May.
Craig Bauman, formerly of Blyth,
his wife and 11-month-old daughter
are involved with International
Teams.
This is long-term mission work.
They plan churches and work for
justice overseas.
On March 11, Craig and family
will 'be speaking at the Way service
at 7 p.m.
Campus Crusade is for all ages.
Paul Henderson works with men in
cities like Toronto. These
people show the video, Jesus Around
the World; and send people and
money to crisis areas such as earth-
quakes.
There will be a Lay Witness
Weekend April 20, 21, 22 and on
Saturday, April 21 at 1 p.m. aladies'
luncheon for $5 per person at Blyth
United Church.
Women's Day Out is at Memorial
Hall Saturday, April 7. Tickets are
on sale now.
Mary Ann Howson and Mildred
Ament served a delicious lunch.
The theme of the service at Blyth
United Church on March 4 was
"Kingdom Contrition".
Rev. Ernest Dow began the service
asking, "What's your life about?" He
'then talked about what Jesus' life
was about. His was about the
Kingdom of God, Rev. Dow told the
congregation. He summarized God's
kingdom as wherever God's proxies
are prevailing.
Rev. Dow told the congregation
that to even approach the Kingdom
of God requires a dramatic change in
a person's life. He said that a key
word in Jesus' vocabulary is repent.
A similar word in English is con-
trite. Contrition is a "humble and
realistic evaluation of ourselves that
doesn't overlook or downplay our
faults, yet is that much more appre-
ciative of God's grace."
Rev. Dow told the story from Luke
18 where two men went to the temple
