Brussels Livestock report
Market sells 2,035 cattle, 452 lambs, goats
Total receipts at Brussels
Livestock for the week ending
March 2 were 2,035 head of cattle
and 452 lambs and goats.
On Tuesday, fed steers and heifers
sold $2 to $4 higher. Cows sold on a
strong active trade. On Thursday,
veal sold on a steady market while
lambs sold stronger to higher with
100 lbs. lambs selling $140 to $160.
On Friday, all weights of stockers
sold on a very strong active trade.
'Mete were 349 steers on offer
selling from $112 to $120 with sales
to $135. Perry Sereda, Centralia,
consigned a limousin steer weighing
1,380 lbs. which sold to Norwich
Packers for $135. His overall
offering of thirty-two limousin steers
averaged 1,329 lbs. and sold for an
average of $130.75. Thirty steers
consigned by Kada Farms, Bluevale,
averaged 1,407 lbs. selling for an
average of $123.86 with three
limousin steers averaging 1,378 lbs.

Teeswater, consigned one-limousin

In the wake of a foot and mouth
disease outbreak in the United
Kingdom, the Ontario Cattle
Feeders' issue an alert warning to all
livestock producers, farmers and
travellers of the serious nature of this
outbreak.
All producers are asked to take
precautions to help prevent, the

as cattle, sheep and hogs. It
can easily be spread by infected
meat products from other
countries as well as by - humans
on clothing and footwear.
They caution producers to try
to minimize the potential for
disease when people are visiting
their farms from abroad and also
when farmers travel to other
countries and farms.
The onus is on farmers to protect
their livelihood by providing
disposable equipment to visitors on
their- farms. These may include
