The Blyth PeeWee
Bulldogs travelled to Bayfield
on Monday, Feb..26 for their
final game of round robin
action.
Josh Albrechtas began
things for the Bulldogs notch-
ing a goal early in the opening
period on a pass from Kyle
Nixon. Bayfield drew even
minutes later.
Albrechtas replied to that
early in the second period col-
lecting his second of the night
assisted by Brett Bean and
Darren Austin. Bayfield
answered with two markers
before period end to take the
lead 3-1.
Blyth tied it up in the third
on a nice goal by Kyle Nixon
assisted by Justin Dobie and
A 1 brechtas. '"The Bulldogs
took back the lead on
Albrechtas's unassisted hat-
trick goal 10 seconds later.
Bayfield regained the tie with
minutes to go, but the
Bulldogs sealed the victory
with seconds left when
Darcey Cook scored on a per-
fect two on one. Bean got the
girls finally clicked with 10
seconds left on the clock with
a goal by Brittany Roberts
from Brittany Kellington and
Krista Cameron.
On the faceoff at the start of
the second, Roberts picked up
the loose puck and worked her
way to the net to score unas-
sisted. Midway through the
period, Jocelyn Carter added
to the lead with assists from

With the win the Bulldogs
advanced to another series
with Brussels,
In game one of WOAA
group playoffs in Blyth,
Thursday, March 1, Brussels
snuck early finding the net
just 45 seconds in. Phil
Wedow scored assisted by
Cory Chapman and Justin
Mayne. Blyth tied it up when
Levi Cook picked up an
Albrechtas rebound and fired
it up by Brussels goalie Kyle
Gibson.
Blyth took the lead in the
second period when Cook
tipped an Austin shot into the
net.
Brussels tied it up seconds
later when Matt McClinchey
scored making it 2-2. This
score held up until the 40 sec-
ond mark of the third period
when Wedow scored his sec-
ond of the night shorthanded
from McClinchey to give
Brussels the victory and put
them up in the best-of-five
series one game to none.
The next match followed
Kellington scored early in
the third, assisted by
Robertson and Jessica Mann.
Roberts completed the hat-
trick with help from Cameron,
then Walker rounded out the
score unassisted to end the
game 6-0. Terri Allen came up
with a brilliant glove save on
a breakaway in the third to
preserve her shutout.
In game two, Walker
opened the score when she
drilled in the rebound on a
point shot by Jackie Zacher.
Cameron and Kellington
hooked up to put the
Lightning ahead by two with a
minute left in the first period.
The second period was
penalty filled with the adrena-
line running high as
Rochester tried to get back
into the game but neither
team could take advantage
with their respective power
plays.
The third period was pretty
much a repeat of the second
with Roberts pulling the plug
on Rochester on an empty net
goal for the 3-0 win. Not get-
ting any points, but doing
their jobs, were Bridget
Sheddon, Amanda Hill and
Crystal Ferguson.

the very next night in
Brussels. Brussels struck
early when Wedow found the
mark to give them the lead.
Assists went to McClinchey
and Mitch Blake. Brussels
added to that on another goal
by Wedow with helpers to
McClinchey and Matt White,
to put Brussels up by two.
Brussels added another mark-
er off the_ stick of Matt White
before the end of the second
period leading Blyth by a
score of 3-0.
White intercepted a Bulldog
pass and scored on a short-
handed effort to give Brussels
a comfortable lead.
Kyle Procter registered the
lone Bulldog marker breaking
in alone on Gibson and beat-
ing him on a deke to make the
score 4-1 in Brussels' favour.
That's as close as Blyth
would get and Brussels took a
stranglehold on the serie'
with a 2-0 lead.
The two teams will match
up once again this Thursday,
March 8 at 6:45 in Blyth.
