The Brussels Bantam
Bulletts travelled to Elma
Logan Thursday, Feb. 22 for
the third game of their four-
point series with Brussels up
three points to one.Brittany
Campbell opened the scoring
in the first period on a power-
play, assisted by Kerri Meier
and Michelle Cook.
Elma Logan battled back to
tie in the second period on a
powerplay of their own when
Mandi DeBlock tipped home
her defencemen's shot. There
would be several scoring
chances for both teams, but the
game remained a 1-1 tie.
Brussels won the series on
four points to the Elma Logan
two.
Brussels now advances to
the final series against
Walkerton.
On Saturday, Feb. 24 the
Bulletts faced Parkhill in
Huron Park in their round-
robin league playoff. Brussels
attacked early with Cook scor-
ing off a pass by Michelle
Nixon in the opening frame.
Ashley Ritchie netted one on a
set up by Brittany Campbell,
then Nicole White closed out
the scoring in the first off a
nice pass by Kerni Meier.
Parkhill scored midway into
the second. The Bulletts came
flying back when Ritchie
scored assisted by Rachel
Elliott and White. Procter
added to the Brussels lead
busting the twine early in the
third period set up by Jenn
Hopf and Kristen Palmer.
The final score was the
Bulletts 5, Parkhill 1.
The Bulletts resumed their
playdowns for the provincials
on Sunday, Feb. 25 in Brussels
against Walkerton. This game
was tight throughout with the
Bulletts getting several
chances to score but unable to
capitalize. •
Walkerton mounted an
attack in the second period to
take a 2-0 lead.
The Bulletts continued their
assault on the Walkerton cage
but just were not able to put
one by. Walkerton took the
game and the early two points
to lead in the series over the
Bulletts.
The next game was played
in Walkerton the following
night. The Brussels Bulletts
were a determined squad and
played with great intensity.
The Bulletts put constant pres-
sure on their opponents from
the start to the finish of the
game but were unable to bust
the twine and were forced to
settle with a 0-0 tie. Nikki
Berfeltz made two outstanding
saves on a Walkerton attempt
On Sunday, March 4 the
Bulletts travelled to Exeter for
their.final match up against the
Exeter Intermediate team in
round-robin playoff competi-
tion. Campbell put the Bulletts
up by one in the first period
scoring off a pass from
Ritchie.
Exeter tied it up in the sec-
ond period.
Brussels jumped back into
the lead before the period
ended on Campbell's second
of the night from Nixon.
The Bulletts added to that in
the third on a goal by White
assisted by Palmer. Ritchie put
Brussels up by three taking a
pass from the face-off by
Cook. Palmer scored on a
squeaker off a pass by White,
then again minutes later on a
slapshot just outside the left
face-off circle to conclude the
Bulletts scoring.
The final score was Brussels
6, Exeter I.
With the victory the Bulletts
advance to the final round of
league playoffs against Elma
Logan.
The Bulletts also continue
their playdowns against
Walkerton Wednesday, March
7 in Brussels at 7:30 p.m.
