Residents of Bluevale will.have to
look to their neighbours to find solu-
tions to a water .problem, after a
municipal system has been ruled out
as too expensive.
Close to 65 residents gathered last
Wednesday evening at a public
meeting to discuss water concerns in
the hamlet. The council of Morris-
Turnberry organized the meeting to
allow Bluevale residents to come
together and find a solution to the
community's water-supply crisis.
As of June 30, Tolton Motors of
Bluevale, which had been supplying
water to over 20 households will
cease to provide its well due to strin-
gent new government regulations in
On Feb. 21 at approximately 3:45
p.m. a two-vehicle crash occurred on
County Rd. 12 just north of Bridge
Road in McKillop Twp.
A 1993 Volkswagen was travelling
north between two school buses. The
Volkswagen was rounding a curve
when the driver Mary McTaggart,
48, of Eden Mills lost control and
entered the other lane. A 2001
Freightliner tractor-trailer unit being
driven south by Ralf Winter, 41, of
Barrie struck the Volkswagen.
Police said, Winter did an incredi-
ble job of driving to avoid colliding
with the two school buses that were
loaded with school-age children. The
the wake of the Walkerton E. coli
disaster. Thus, residents must find a
source of safe water for their homes.
While the June 30 deadline has
been set, Bill Tolton told last week's
meeting that an extension may be
granted.
However, he said he wants to
make sure that the 20-plus house-
holds are looking for an alternate
water source.
Initially, council looked at a com-
munal water system for the hamlet.
However, the estimated cost for the
Bluevale Water Works could reach
$1.9 million. At more than the com-
bined yearly budget of the new
municipality, the cost was deemed
prohibitive.

100 gallons of diesel fuel.
McTaggart was trapped in the
vehicle and required the assistance
of the Seaforth Fire Department in
being extricated. She was taken to
Seaforth Hospital by ambulance and
later transferred to Victoria Street
South Campus Hospital in London
with serious injuries.
The road was closed for several
hours while crews cleaned up the
wreckage and looked after the fuel
spill.
No charges were laid due to the

water — problems experienced in
Neustadt. Years ago, the wells in that
community became contaminated
and homeowners became responsi-
ble as a group to provide their own
water.

portation cost alone could be as
much as $600,000.
In the end, residents agreed to sep-
arate into small groups to provide
wells to each other. Wells to five or
fewer residences are not as yet sub-
ject to stringent provincial testing
regulations.
Private residences are not the only
buildings affected. Two churches, as
well as the public recreation hall and
former municipal office are in need
of a water supply.
No further meetings are planned
by council and residents are co-oper-
ating to form groups and provide
water to all those who need it.
