A Young Perspective IV heat Matters Moving on to college can be stressful time By Elyse DeBruyn For most of Ontario's students, half of the school year is over. they will soon be rejoicing the much- needed, but not long enough summer vacation. After the holiday, many students Will start their first year of college or university. Along with the excite- ment of moving out and becoming independent comes the nervousness Sarah's Side and fear. (For most people anyway). Moving out can also be one of the most stressful obstacles to overcome in a person's life. There are many things to consider when someone moves out of their parents' home and into a world as an individual. How much money is there in the bank? What about rent, furniture, food. Who will my roommates be (if any)? Where would be the best place to live (close to the college or work- place). On top of all this comes the stress of waiting to see what college or uni- versity will accept you. This can be very disappointing or very exciting. I hope to get accepted to Niagara College and take journalism. If I do get accepted, I will have to move down on Sept. 2. Now there is one little problem with this, my cousin is getting mar- ried on Sept. 1 and I am in the wed- ding. I know it will be fun, but I am going to be so stressed as it is with the fact of moving out, and I don't know how much I am going to feel like driving from Toronto to Welland the day after a wedding. Last of all going on to college to experience bigger and better things will be a once-in-a-lifetime change. I will try new things and meet new people, but I am going to miss my friends. We are all going in different directions in life. I am happy to have made the friends I did, and I am so proud of everything we accomplished in our high school lives, but it is soon time to move on. Life won't be the same without my friends, but I will always remember the good times. Issuing a challenge to all guys and girls By Sarah Mann When you think of Valentine's Day what comes to mind? The chocolates, flowers, and teddy bears? Many girls find themselves dream- ing about what their boyfriend will By Elyse DeBruyn Last week I went to see the movie Hannibal with a few friends. We went prepared to see what we thought, was going to be one of the . scariest movies of all time, as it is the sequel to Silence of the Lambs. The movie started out with Agent By Sarah Mann As teenagers today we are faced with major decisions that we must make. Will we attend college or uni- versity? What college or university will we go to? What program/s will we apply for? Will we even go to Do you or someone you know vol- unteer? Last year my boyfriend didn't give me anything he bought in a store, he wrote me a song. That song meant more to me than all the flowers and chocolates in the world. The fact that he took the time Clarice Starling (Julianne Moore) and her fellow agents, tracking down a mob leader. Things unfortu- nately turn sour, leaving Starling to suffer the consequences of her actions. Meanwhile, across the seas a man befriends the infamous Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins), and dis- school or will we go straight into the workforce. These decisions we must make can cause an enormous amount of stress on' us teenagers. This year, my boyfriend'didn't get me anything for Valentine's Day. Some say that he's starting to take me for granted. It didn't take me long, however, to realize that he was covers his true identity. He then con- tacts Starling with his news. The movie then continues on with Starling trying to track down Dr. Lecter with an ending that will frighten, disgust, and in so many words shock you. I was surprised at the movie, because it wasn't as horrific "as- not unappreciative of me. In fact, it's quite the opposite. My boyfriend knows that I don't need flowers and candy to know that he respects and values me, and besides, he's not a materialistic type of guy. Why do we only have one day of everyone thought it was going to be. Although the ending was pretty gross, it really wasn't as bloody as I expected. TO say the least, it wasn't scary for me, as most sequels are never as scarry as the original, but children obviously shouldn't see this movie as it is Rated R.
