PAGE 25. Obituaries BRYAN BELL Mr. Bryan Edward Bell of Blyth, during a valiant fight with myelodysplasia, passed away in Clinton on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001 in his 55th year. Mr. Bell was born in Clinton on Jan. 26, 1947 and is the son of the late Edward and Muriel (Wilson) Bell. Mr. Bell was an auto body mechanic at Carter's West End. Bryan married Mary Lou McClinchey on Oct. 3, 1969 in Blyth United Church. Mr. Bell is the beloved husband of Mary Lou (McClinchey). He is the loving father of Dean Edward Bell and his wife Jodie of Burlington, David John Bell of Blyth and Leanne and Wilfred Datema of Clinton. He will be sadly missed by grandchildren Kayla and Dylan Datema. He was the dear son-in-law of Bernice McClinchey of Blyth and dear brother and brother-in-law of Doug and Shirley Bell of Londesborough, Candice and Gerry Uniac of Thamesford, Colleen Bell and Derwin Carter of Blyth, Ruth and Harvey Fiebelkom Of Winnipeg, Helen and Don Noble of Belgrave, George McClinchey and Nova Gunn of Mississauga and Grace McCall of Lambeth. He is also survived by nieces and nephews. Bryan will also be missed by his two Jack Russell terriers, Toby and Kelly. Mr. Bell was predeceaed by his son Devon Bell (1978), his parents Edward and Muriel (Wilson) Bell, his father-in-law John McClinchey and by one brother-in-law David McCall. Mr. Bell was a member of the Royal Canadian • Legion Blyth Branch #420, the Huron County Men's Darts League, Silver Creek Archery Club and the Huron Fish and Game Club. Friends were received at the Blyth Visitation Centre on Monday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. where the funeral service was held on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001 at 2 p.m. Pastor Les Cook officiated. Interment will be in Clinton Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jim Hoy, Bruce Papple, John Verwey, Jim Fenton, Joe Holmes and Bob Badley. Donations to the Leukemia Research Fund would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. MATTHEW DAVID HESS Matthew David Hess was stillborn at St. Joseph's Hospital, London on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001. He made his appearance eight weeks early and weighed 2 lbs. 7 oz. Since learning in late November that he had anen- cephalous, the family knew that their time together would be very short. We praise God for this life and look forward to meeting again in heaven. Matthew was the treasured son of Jim and Linda Hess and brother of Andrew and Judith of RR1, Belgrave. He was the grandson of Agnes Hess of RR1, Belgrave and John and Betty Perry of Woodstock. He was the nephew of David and Wendy Perry of Kanata. Matthew was predeceased by his infant brother Stephen and his grandfather Alfred Hess. Visitation was at McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham, Ontario on Sunday. Funeral service was held at the Huron Chapel Missionary Church, Auburn on Monday at 11 a.m. Rev. David Wood officiated. Interment will be in Brandon CemeterY, Belgrave. Memorial donations to Huron Chapel Missionary Church Building Fund or St. Joseph's Health Care Foundation Family Birthing Centre would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. MARTHA LOGAN Martha (Storey) Logan of Brussels, passed away at her resi- dence on Monday, Feb. 19, 2001. She was in her 86th year. Born in Seaforth on July 1, 1915, Martha was the daughter of the late Thomas and Catberine Storey and the beloved wife of the late Alvin James Logan whom she- married on Jan. 5, 1940. • Martha attended school in Seaforth and was active with swim- ming, skating, baseball and hockey. She moved to Toronto for a short time. When she and Alvin were mar- ried they 'moved to Brussels where Women's The Women's Shelter and Counselling Services of Huron is a major benefactor of this year's Ontario Trillium Foundation grants. The organization will receive $189,400 over three years to improve services to spouses and children in Huron and Perth Counties who are affected by domestic violence. The monies will also allow the shelter to share resources and experiences with other Ontario communities. "This grant will make it possible for the domestic assault review teams of Huron and Perth to improve the matrix of services for women," said Executive Director Michele Hansen. "We have a long-time commitment to increase safety for women and they raised their family of four boys. Martha enjoyed crafts, knitting, taking part in skits and acting in plays. She was quite involved with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Legion, serving on the executive, as con- venor and playing on many dart teams. In September of 1986, when Alvin passed away, Martha moved across the road to the Maple Villa Apartments. She was very busy organizing social activities in the building such as Meals on Wheels, card games, and afternoon teas. An independent, caring woman she was quietly a part of many people's lives. She never intruded, but you knew you could always come to her. She will be sadly missed by her sons Doug Logan and his wife Carolyn of Brampton, Jack Logan and his wife Carol of Devon, Alberta and Dave Logan of Vancouver, B.C. children and now we have the fund- ing to make change." The Ontario Trillium Foundation, an agency of the Ministry of Citizenship, Culture and Recreation, announced more than $669,000 in grants for Huron, Perth, Grey and Bruce Counties. The funds are used to promote the work of local artists and craftpeople, improve services to end domestic violence, provide literacy programs for adults with developmental chal- lenges along with Many other com- munity. initiatives. Also receiving monies in the latest round of grants were the Grey County Agricultural Services Centre, AIDS Action Committee of Perth She was the dear grandma of Scott, Bradley, Melissa, Doug and Sarah. She will also be missed by her sis- ters-in-law Mildred Sparling of St. Marys and Marguerite Reid of Houghton, Michigan. Mrs. Logan was predeceased by her son James Wayne Logan. At Martha's request there was no funeral home visitation. Cremation has taken place. A Ladies Legion Auxiliary Servide was held immediately prior to the memorial service which was con- ducted from the Schimanski Family Funeral Home, Brussels, on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Cathrine Campbell of Melville Presbyterian Church officiating. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
