Agriculture Cows sell $1 to $.2 higher at Brussels Livestock Total receipts at Brussels Livestock for the week ending Feb. 23 were 2,512 head of cattle and 477 lambs and goats. On Tuesday, fed steers and heifers sold at prices barely steady to last week's prices. Cows sold at prices $1 to $2 higher. On Thursday, veal sold steady and the lambs sold barely steady. On Friday, the steer calves traded at prices $4 to $5 higher. Heifer calves and yearlings sold at steady prices. There were 545 steers on offer selling from $108 to $120 with sales to $133.50. Cunningham Farms, Lucan, consigned one RWF steer weighing 1,400 lbs. which sold to Holly Park Meat Packers for $133.50. Their overall offering of twenty-six steers averaged 1,530 lbs. and sold for an average of $115.24. Fifteen steers consigned by Neil Thompson, Atwood, averaged 1,412 lbs. selling for an average of $115.92 with one gold steer weighing 1,415 lbs. selling. for $127.50 to Dominion Meats. R. J. Wilson, Walkerton, consigned a grey steer weighing 1,205 lbs. which sold for $119.25. Four steers consigned by Roy Ready, St. Marys, averaged 1,435 lbs. selling for an average of $117.93 with one RWF steer weighing 1,350 lbs. selling for $122. John Glousher, Wingham, consigned ten steers averaging 1,562 lbs. selling for an average of $117.37 with sales to $118.25. Thirty-eight steers consigned by Murray Forbes Farms Ltd., Clinton, averaged 1,477 lbs. and sold for an average of $116.35. Their top steer weighed 1,475 lbs. and sold for $122.75. Bender Beef Farms, Hensall, averaged 1,423 lbs. and sold for an average of $116.34. One gold steer weighing 1,185 lbs. sold to Dominion Meats for $121. Fourteen steers consigned by Alton O'Neil, Lucan, averaged 1,482 lbs. and sold for an average of $115.07. One blonde steer weighing 1,475 lbs. sold to Dominion Meats for $122.50. Carl Stanley, Lucknow, consigned thirty-three steers averaging 1,509 lbs. selling for an average of $113.52 with sales to $119. Two steers consigned by Amos Wideman, Holyrood, averaged 1,528 lbs. and sold for an average of $111.79 with sales up to $122. There were 449 heifers on offer selling from $108 to $120 with sales to $134. One blue heifer consigned by Kada Farms, Bluevale, weighed 1,220 lbs. and sold to Norwich Packers for $135. Their overall offering of five heifers averaged 1,212 lbs. and sold for an average of $123.72. Five heifers consigned by Ray Zettler, Walkerton, averaged 1,189 lbs. selling for an average of $119.51 with' ales up to $122.50. Roy Elliott, Ripley, consigned forty-two heifers averaging 1,282 lbs. selling for an average of $119.17 with eight limousin heifers which averaged 1,243 lbs. bringing $125. Nine heifers consigned by John Smuck, Wingham, averaged 1,099 lbs. selling for an average of $118.30. One limousin heifer weighed 1,060 lbs. and sold for $126.50. Muxlea Farms, Woodstock, consigned fourteen heifers averaging 1,323 lbs. which sold for an average of $118.03 with one black heifer weighing 1,180 lbs. selling to Dominion Meats for $124. Three heifers consigned by Machan Construction, Monkton, averaged 1,178 lbs. and sold for an average of $117.66 with sales to $120.50. Twenty-four heifers consigned by Rob Gardiner, Staffa, averaged _1,243 lbs. selling for an average of $116.63 with sales to $121. Louie Van Hooydonk, Alvinston, consigned one limousin heifer weighing 1,215 lbs. which sold to Norwich Packers for $126.50. His overall offering of fifteen heifers averaged 1,215 lbs. selling for an average of$116.27. There were 196 cows on offer. DI and D2 cows sold $61 to $66 with sales to $85.50; D3, $56 to $61; D4, $51 to $56. Steve Michie, Brussels, consigned one limousin cow weighing 1,175 lbs. selling for .$85.50. One holstein cow consigned by Peter Lefor, Brussels, weighing 1,890 lbs. and sold for $80.50. Rick Portena, Monkton, consigned one holstein cow weighing 1,670 lbs. soiling for $79.50. There were 13 bulls on offer selling from $64.50 to $85 with sales to $89.50. Bill Regier, Dashwood, consigned one black bull weighing 1,770 lbs. selling for $89.50.
