80 curlers compete
in Brussels bonspiel
Well done
Thirteen Brussels skaters competed at the 2001 Interclub North Skating com-
petition in St. Marys on Sunday, Feb. 18. Fourteen clubs participated. In

PeeWees lose Drayton series
There were 80 curlers at the
Brussels Curling Club's
mixed bonspiel on Feb. 24.
The 9 a.m. draw winners
were: first, 48.25 points, Bill
Dowd, Jean Baillie, Janette
Young, Ken Elg; second, 36
points, Fred Smith, Sandy
Smith, Jackie Smith, Doris
Hopper; third, 34.5 points,

The Brussels PeeWees lost
their WOAA series against
Drayton when they were
defeated three games to one.
With the series tied at one,
Drayton visited Brussels Feb.
21 for a very close contest.
Matt McClinchey opened
the scoring for Brussels, hit-
ting the net at 4:25 of the first.
Tate Stephenson earned the
assist.
Brussels went up 2-1 mid-
way through the second when
Andrew McDonald took a
pass from McClinchey.
Drayton evened the score
early in the third then rounded
out the total at 3-2 just one
minute later.
Back in Drayton on Friday
evening, the squad had a very
poor second period, giving up
eight goals after leading 4-3.
Scoring for Brussels in the
first were Matt White (two),
McClinchey, and Wheeler.
Assists went to Adam
McClure (two), McDonald
(two), Greg Bowers, and Phil
Wedow.
McClinchey was able to
notch one in the second, with
the help of Wedow as the team
watched their lead evaporate
into n 11-5 deficit.
Drayton topped off their
win with another goal late in
the third.
The PeeWees now return to
group playoffs.
Atoms lose 2 •

Ice Cream Major ''Atom
Highlanders played two games
in the second round of OMHA
playoffs against Oakville and
lost both games.
Game one was- a 6-1 loss
with Jeff Colton scoring the
only goal.
Game two was a 3-0 loss.
