Brussels Livestock report
Veal sells up $5, beef range $100 to $155
Total receipts at Brussels
Livestock for the week ending Feb. 9
were 1,786 head of cattle and 218
lambs and goats. On Tuesday, fed
steers and heifers sold on a good
strong market with the cows selling
on a steady market. On Thursday,
veal sold $5 higher while the iambs
sold fully steady to last week. On
Friday, all classes and weights of
stockers sold on a strong active
trade.
There were 279 steers on offer
selling from $104 to $115 with sales
to $126.50. Darren Johnston,
Bluevale, consigned one gold steer
weighing 1,310 lbs. which sold to
Norwich Packers for $126.50. His
overall offering of eight steers
averaged 1,314 lbs. selling for an
average of $116.78. One blonde
steer consigned by Schmidt Brook
Farms, Woodstock, weighed 1,255
lbs. and sold to Norval Meat Packers
for $122.50. Their overall offering of
twelve steers averaged 1,519 lbs. and
sold for an average of $112.33. Amzi
Wideman, Listowel, consigned six
steers averaging 1,482 lbs. selling
for an average of $120.47 with sales
to $122.25. Six steers consigned by
Fraser Diehl, Milverton, averaged
1,304 lbs. selling for an average of
$114.98 with sales up to $116.75.

consigned two steers averaging
1,382 lbs. selling for an average of
$114.49 with two black steers
averaging 1,440 lbs. selling to
Moyer Packing Co. for $115.25.

$113.13 with sales up to $114.50.

offering of forty-seven steers
averaged 1,431 lbs. and sold for an

steer weighing 1,370 lbs. which sold
to Norwich packers for $122.25.
Their overall offering of twenty-five
steers averaged 1,477 lbs. and sold
for an average of $110. Fifteen steers
consigned by Doug Shiell,
Wingham, averaged 1,551 lbs. and
solid for an average of $110.16 with
one limousin steer weighing 1,425
lbs. selling for $121.75.
There were 258 heifers on offer
selling from $104 to $115 with sales
to $130.25. One limousin heifer
consigned by Roy Elliott, Ripley,
weighing 1,400 lbs. sold to Norwich
Packers for $130.25. His overall
offering of forty-four heifers
averaged 1,340 lbs. and sold for an
average of $116.97. Kart Terpstra,
Mitchell, consigned five heifers
averaging 1,237 lbs. selling for an
average of $114.29 with one
limousin heifer weighing 1,205 lbs.

Chepstow, consigned one holstein
cow weighing 1,245 lbs. which sold
for $87.50. One limousin cow
consigned by Kevin Pfeffer,
Palmerston, weighed 1,510 lbs. and
sold for $77.50. Bob Hoover,
Atwood, consigned one hereford
cow weighing 1,495 lbs. which sold
for $76.
There were 7 bulls on offer selling
from $74.50 to $78.50 with sales to
$87.50. One limousin bull consigned
by Gerald Jefferson, Auburn,
weighed 2,555 lbs. and sold for
$78.50. Dayle Mannerow, Chesley,1
consigned one charolais bull
weighing 2,050 lbs. which sold for
$77.50.

offer. Beef sold $100 to $155;
Holstein, $90 to $104; Plain
Holstein, $70 to $85. Dale,Gibson,
Fordwich, consigned one limousin
veal steer weighing 655 lbs. selling
for $155. One black veal steer
