Grey
shed gets
generator
A generator has recently been pur-
chased and installed at the Grey
Municipal Works Building. The gen-
erator will provide a backup power
supply and will allow the works
building to operate as an Emergency
Control Centre in the event of an
extended power outage.
With the generator, .the building
will be able to act as a_ supply of
diesel fuel and gasoline and serve as
a heated evacuation centre with
basic cooking facilities, water, etc.
Emergency Measures Ontario
through the Joint Emergency
Preparedness Program provided 45
per cent funding for the generator
which amounted to a $2,700 grant.
Last week's euchre party in
Cranbrook was cancelled due to
inclement weather. However the next
euchre party is to be held on Feb. 16
at 8 p.m. in the Cranbrook Hall. Dart
evenings on every Wednesday are
continuing to be successful and fun
and are open to anyone interested in
having a good game of darts.
The annual meeting of the Hall
board will be held on Thursday, Feb.
22 at 7:30 p.m. in the Cranbrook
Hall. The meeting is open to the pub-
lic and all are welcome. We do need
new hall board members to join in
our work to keep the hall financially
viable and as useful a community
resource as it can be.
My series of February art classes

At the tender age of 10, TaylOr
Runstedler of Cranbrook has the
poise, charm and sophistication
befitting a ballerina. Runstedler, who
has been taking dance lessons with
April March at the Performance One
dance academy in Listowel for more
than three years, will this month
have started for interested people in
Cranbrook and the topic for four ses-
sions is the proportions of the human
face and portraiture. I guarantee that
at the end of the course everyone will
be able to do a portrait "in the style"
of Picasso. But we are aiming for a
little more likeness.
Ethel euchre was held on Monday,
Feb. 5 with 15 tables in play. It was
hosted by Dorothy Dilworth.
Winners were: 50/50, Kathleen
Whaley; high, Jean Schneider, John
Subject; lone hands, Isabelle
Bremner, Violet Smith, Lorne
Lambkin; low, Isabelle Craig,
George Pearson; tally, Donna
Moore, Margaret Peebles, Annie
McCourt, Marguerite Beirnes, Lois
have the opportunity to take a giant
leap forward in her quest to become
a ballerina.
At the suggestion of her teacher,
Runstedler will travel to London,
Feb. 21 to audition for the National
Ballet School of Canada summer
program.
Geared to young dancers in Grade
5, the nation-wide try-outs select 150
participants to attend the four-week
summer program in Toronto.
Successful completion results in 50
dancers being invited to join the
year-round academic school.
Unlike what an audition may be
perceived to be, Runstedler will not
be asked to perform a specific piece,
but the judges will be looking at her
general body type, musicality or
ability to keep a rhythm.
McLean, Keith Turnbull, Agnes
Harrow, Jim Smith, Bob Bateman,
Iola Subject.
The next euchre will be held on
Monday, Feb. 19 at 8:30 p.m.

Because they are such an elite
school, Runstedler's mother, Jane,
said the judges look for students they
will be able to teach. "They look at
their ability to (dance)."
On the prospective of attending a
school in Toronto for four`weeks,
Runstedler said, "It is exciting. It
will be worthwhile and a wonderful
experience, but I will be nervous. I
will be sad to be away from my fam-
ily, but happy because this could be
my future."
With her future perhaps looking
bright, Runstedler can also look back
on several great achievements during
her short time in dance. She has
earned many ribbons and trophies
over the past two years and takes
great pride in the fact that she is the
first student her teacher has recom-
mended for the auditions.
Asked what it is about ballet that
fueled her love of dance, she smiles,
saying, "It makes you feel alive -
special."
Though her teacher encourages
her to spend more hours practising,
the youngster now works at her craft
one to two hours per day and spends
four days a week at the studio.
"Taylor has been working hard,
practicing every Sunday in prepara-
tion for the audition," said March.
March suggested Runstedler par-
ticipate in the audition because of
her determination, willingness to
work hard and her physical atrributes
are those of a dancer.
"She also has a great mind set
about what she wants to accom-
plish," March added.
To display their talents, Runstedler
and others from Performance One
will perform at Listowel and District
Secondary School Feb. 23 in a com-
petitive showcase. The .evening
event is in preparation for the com-
petition season which begins shortly
afterwards.
Runstedler already has a contin-
gency plan in place if her dreams of
becoming a ballerina do not materi-
alize.. "I want to teach or be a
helper."
