Lunch was served by Leona Armstrong, Cathrine Campbell and Marie McCutcheon. By Jo-Ann McDonald It was another busy weekend at the Brussels Legion Branch. Thursday night mixed blind darts has had, good groups coming out to play. The Friday night supper of roast pork was delicious but the weather made for a small crowd. Next week is Dauphin Stew. Sanu'clay, there were 10 tables of euchre in play. Lucky winners were Well, we're finished with all the hoopla, with the celebrated rodents, so on w; th winter. Now for the rest of the year we can just mutter at the lit- tle brown dears on the roads and in the fields. Like all things in life, there is a good side and bad side to everything.. The mounds of ice and snow that we've accumulated this year are no exception. The bad news is the havoc it has played on area roofs causing structural damage as well as the irri- tation of drips and drops in our homes. The good news is that the birders of our village have been making- contact with lots of petties including a hungry hawk by the ball park that now sees Brussels bird feeders as hunting grounds. Spring must be around the corner — a kid on a bicycle was doing all right the other evening getting places. Lloyd and Lillian Appleby, John and Iola Subject and Delores Howatt and Hazel Reid. Lucky ladies' lone hand winner was Irlma Edgar and men's was Arthur Hinz. The new bartender Linda Hislop started her first day. She is here Saturday and Wednesday nights. Sunday was Darts Ontario upstairs and later the Singles Dance crowd enjoyed the music of the Blue Diamond Trio. Mind you I didn't see him try to stop. Valentine's Day is the busiest flower day of the year and you don't want your sweetie to be disappointed now do you? Sheila Richards has returned from a frosty visit to Montreal just in time to celebrate the 2001 line-up of plays at Blyth theatre. Looks like another good year. Way to go Keith. A new Roulston play to look forward to. Thanks. Don't let the winter blahs get you down. Get out for a ride or walk, phone a friend, visit the nursing home or go out for supper. It works even better if a friend calls on the night you didn't want to cook any- way. Lucky me! Enjoy February. Bye now. Betty G. W. Men's euchre is on Wednesday evening, starting sharp at 8:30 p.m. Comrade Bill McWhirter is still in Wingham hospital and Comrade Gerald Rutledge is recovering from his broken ankle. Comrade Cathy Snyder is still under the weather and we wish her a speedy recovery. Look for a newsletter to all Branch members in the near future and catch up on what else is going on At the Branch.
