Gr. 8 hears about Madill

On Jan. 12, the Grade 8s of East
Wawanosh Public School were given
a presentation by Mrs. Elston (one of
the three guidance councillors at F.
E. Madill). She talked to them about
the things they will be doing next
year in high school and about the
things they will need and won't
need. She told that they can not bring
backpacks in classes becaus6 there is
not enough room. They will have to
bring their books that they need for
several classes because there is not
enough time to go to their lockers.
Also, if someone were late for
classes the first week, then that is
okay. Three late cards means a

A lock can be obtained at the
office or purchased elsewhere but it
has to be a combination lock not .a
key lock.
Students were also told about the
new two-day timetable and the
Grade 10 literacy test.
On Feb. 1 at 7:15 p.m. there will
be a presentation at F. E. Madill
Secondary School in Wingham that
parents and students will want to
attend to learn about high school.
There is lots of snow in the yard
for the students to enjoy these days.
Many use plastic shovels to make
their own snow forts and pathways.
Some enjoy a vigorous game of
soccer and still others use the tall

Six tables of euchre were in play
at the Women's Institute Hall on
Wednesday, Jan. 24.
.Winners were: high lady, Ruth
Johnston; second high lady, Jane
Grasby; most lone hands, Viola
Adams; low lady, Mary Taylor; high
man, Ross Taylor; second high mart,
Jim Coultes; most lone hands, Allen
Edgar; low man, Mabel Wheeler.
There is euchre again on
Wednesday, Jan. 31 at 8 p.m.
There were 10 tables of shoot in
play at the Belgrave Community
Centre on Friday, Jan. 26.

Scott; second high lady, Ada Taylor;
most shoots, Jean Pattison; low lady,
Jane Grasby; high man, Ken Spears;
second high man, Gordon Bosman;
most shoots, Norman Turnbull; low
man, Agnes Gaunt.

Monday, Jan. 29 the senior classes
and some parents made their annual
trip to Talisman ski hills to try out
their skills there.
Recently, a volunteer from the
Alzheimer Society visited the Grade
3/4 class to help them understand
this condition. This group has also
donated a book to the school library
called Forget-me-not.
Thursday, Feb. 1, JK/SK
registration will be held at the school
for all new students who will be
beginning school in September of
2001. Please phone the school office
at 357-2960 if you have not yet
received a survey form.,
Mait and Mary Edgar of Petrolia,
Irlma Edgar of Wingham and
Harvey Edgar of RR4, Wingham
recently visited with Helen
Stonehouse.
Murray Scott who was a patient in
Victoria Hospital and later
transferred to Seaforth Hospital has
returned home. He had the
misfortune of falling from the barn
roof breaking his tail bone and
pelvis. Friends, neighbours and
relatives wish Murray a speedy
recovery.

MORNING OUT is a Parent Support Group for parents of
newborns in the Seaforth Community Hospital catchment area, A
variety of topics specific to infants ie. nutrition, breastfeeding,
immunization, etc. are offered each Friday morning 10:00 - 11:00
a.m. Childcare can be arranged by registering with Grace at 527-

WALKING OPPORTUNITY The halls of Seaforth District
High School are being offered to local community residents every
Tuesday and Thursday evening 7 9 p.m. for those who want to

It was snow much fun at Bluevale this weekend with a snow

No charges laid in accident
Mabel's Moms met at their regular
time on Wednesday, Jan. 24.
Those who attended were: Lila
Procter and Jessica; Kim Higgins,
Ashley, Shelby and Jarrod Logan;
Crystal Agombar, Nicholas, Gage
and Curtis Weber; Linda Hess and
Judith; Donna Raynard, Heidi,
Curtis and Craig. Their topic was
children's hockey and figure
skating.
Hullett man
gets 000 fine
Otto Boone of Hullett Tivp. was
fined $500 for a theft which
occurred last Augustin Brussels.
The court heard that on the day in
question, Aug. 7, Boone was at JR's
Gas Bar in Brussels when he entered
the kiosk and stole $360 from the
till, said Guthrin. Boone, a regular
customer at the gas bar, was
identified by a surveillance camera.
One week later, Boone went to the
Ontario Provincial Police and
admitted he had stolen the money,
which has been paid back.
Myers, said Boone was laid off at
the time and experiencing difficulty
in his personal life. He said the theft
was a "stupid act" and "not
planned".
On Jan. 27 at approximately
10:45 a.m. a single vehicle collision
occurred on County Rd. 7 near the
intersection of Kieffer Line in
Morris-Tumberry Twp.
Stephen Dale, 36, of Walkerton
was westbound when he lost control
of his 1989 Toyota. The vehicle
struck a snowbank and rolled onto
its roof.
Dale receive minor injuries over
the collision. No charges will be
laid. The roadway was extremely icy
at the time of the crash.
