H. Reid hosts
Cheerios
The ladies of the Cheerio Club
met for dinner at Today's Variety
and Restaurant on Wednesday, Jan.
17. Later Hazel Reid hosted the
group for the business and fellow-
ship parts of the afternoon.
Roll call was answered by short
readings from each member. Mary
East gave the treasurer's report.
Phyllis Potter was the recipient of
the gift of the month. The afternoon
concluded with card playing enjoyed
by all.
As Beth Knox invited the group to
her home on Feb. 21, they will dine
at the Blue Fountain in Clinton that
day. New members are always wel-
come.
At the time of reporting, longtime
Cheerio member Audrey Thompson
is again a patient in Clinton Public
Hospital. With your prayers she'll be
home again soon in good spirit.
Matthew 28: 16-20. From the Old
Testament, the prophet Micah
reminds the Israelites that God wants
them to be just, to love mercy and to
walk humbly with Him. The New
Testament reading is the great com-
missioning of Christ to His disciples.
He implores them to go and teach all
nations the Lord's commandments
and to baptize in the name of the
Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Christ
assures them of God's constant pres-
ence in their lives.
This Wednesday night's discussion
group topics is The Dangers of
Tolerance. Everyone is welcome to
join the conversation from 7:30 to 9
p.m. at the manse.
Submissions for the annual report
are due Feb. 1. The annual congrega-
tional meeting will be held Tuesday,
Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Sunday
School room.
On the third Sunday of Epiphany,
Richard Bain was the guest speaker
at Londesboro United Church. Mr.
Bain, a licensed lay preacher for the
United Church of Canada, is also a
professional photographer. The
photo of the church which graces the
front cover of the new church photo
directory was taken by him.
His message was titled What Is a
Life For? Supporting scripture pas-
sages were Micah 6: 1-9 and
