PAGE 15. Obituaries G. CARSON WATSON A Service of Celebration was held on Friday, Jan. 12 at the Brussels United Church for Carson Watson, who passed away at Seaforth Manor Nursing Home, Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001. Joan Golden led the family through the time of worship as they read scripture, told stories and heard music that showed those present, the love that Carson had for life. Carson started this life in Morris Twp. Dec. 28, 1919. The untimely death of his father in 1932 made it necessary for the family to move to Howick Twp. to be near his mother's family (the Ruttans) for their sup- port. Georgetown, to tend a dairy herd, was the next place Carson hung his hat, and when Carson and Alma (Galbraith) were married in June of 1940 they lived and worked at the farm owned by the Leslies. Morris Twp. called again (Watsons were original settlers in Morris) and in 1946 Carson, Alma and Ralph returned to settle on one of the McCutcheon farms on the sixth con- cession. Son John and daughter, Mary soon arrived to complete the family and the Watson days were full of farm work, sports, music and fun. While maintaining the farm Carson worked for the Huron County Roads Department for 28 years on bridge construction, road maintenance and as a bulldozer oper- ator. He had a part in building most_ of the bridges in Huron County today. Grandchildren Mike Watson, Craig, Janice and Rhonda Heise and Matthew and Christine Watson gave Carson and Alma great joy as they each spent time on the farm learning the love of nature, the thrill of the game and the love of laughter. Retirement years in Brussels were enjoyed walking, playing cards and dancing. The last two years were spent at The Manor in Seaforth where Carson died peacefully on Jan. 9 in his 82nd year. Carson was the dear brother-in7 law of Jim Brodie, Helen and Mac Burwell, Geane Watson and Ken and Marg Galbraith. He was predeceased by his brother Reg Watson and sisters Janet Hockridge, Phyllis Watson and Wilma Brodie. Schimanski Family Funeral Home was in charge of the service where pictures and favourite objects showed the life of George Carson Watson. Lindsay and Andrew Watson represented the great-grand- children as they played a piano duet, Ode to Joy on behalf of Zachary and Nathan and Cassidy Heise. Ecclesiatics 3:1-8, 14 and Psalm 121 were read by Craig Heise and Mike Watson. Memories of Carson were shared by Janice Heise, Wendy Watson and Rhonda Heise. A musical prelude was enjoyed by John Watson and John Payne. Following the service. Carson's family gathered with friends and family for a time of fellowship. Spring interment of cremated remains will be in Wroxeter ceme- tery. As an expression of sympathy, -memorial donations may be made to the Brussels United Church Memorial Fund or to a charity of one's choice.
