the Jennie Turnbull obituary
from last week, so it is being
reprinted in its entire.y. We
apologize for the error.
JENNIE TURNBULL
Jennie Turnbull passed away at
Seaforth Manor on Friday. Nov. 20,
1998.
The regular euchre was held at
the Ethel Hall, Monday evening,
Nov. 16, hosted by Bob Bateman.
There were 12 tables in play.
Winners were: 50/50, Isabell
Gray; high lady, Violet Smith; low
lady, Donna Moore; high man,
Freda D'Arcey; low man, Margaret
Meeting four of the Ethel 4-Her's
"From Farm to Table", on Nov. 23
began with the pledge and roll call.
Members discussed food
distribution, transportation and the
Ontario Food Terminal.
Once they had completed that
part of the meeting, leader Tanya
Terpstra led them in a game.
They then discussed exports,
She was born June 16, 1898 in
McKillop Twp., daughter of J.J.
and Estelle McGavin.
Early in life she became involved
in community activities, chief of
which was her association with
Bethel Church, located about two
miles from her home. As a teenager
she was the organist for several
years.
One of her favourite memories
was of her childhood pet and
friend, her pony. She often related
some of the escapades with old
Bateman; lone hands, Erma
Brighton, Marion Harrison, Leola
Harrison; closest birthday, Annie
McCourt; tally card winners, Grace
Stewart, Ken Crawford, Lois
McLean, Ross Stephenson, Becky
Rupple, Neil Hatt, Marion Behms,
Doug Hamilton.

The last part of the book work
was to visit the "Petroleum Palace".
This activity allowed them to make
selections for a meal and they were
charged accordingly based on the
energy used to produce that food.

the fundraising opportunity they are

She had some training at
MacDonald Institute at OAC
Guelph.
When she was 19 she married
Wilbur Turnbull and settled on Lot
II, Conc. 16 in Grey Twp., where
they resided for over 50 years.
During that time Jennie was
involved in many community
activities. She helped organize the
Walton Women's Institute, was
active in the WMS of Walton
United Church, a member of the
Rebekahs and the Huron Historical
Society.
Eventually Jennie and Wilbur
retired in Brussels where they
celebrated their 70th wedding
anniversary in January 1988. When
her husband died a few months
later she moved to Maplewood
Manor in Seaforth where she spent
over 10 years. Jennie greatly
appreciated the homelike
atmosphere, and the supreme
efforts of the staff, and the family
support. The last month of her life
was spent in Seaforth Manor
Nursing Home.
She leaves to mourn, her two
sons, John and his wife Marian and
Bill, and her two daughters, Helen
Habkirk and Dorothy Lawless and
her husband Doug. She is
remembered lovingly by her
grandchildren, Janet Papple, Chris
Murray, Marlene Turnbull, Marion
Uhler, Barb Fritz, Shirley Turnbull,
Joan Yungblut, Bob Habkirk and
Jack Habkirk, as well as 22 great-
grandchildren and five great-great-
grandchildren.
She was predeceased by husband
Wilbur, two grandchildren Murray
and Dianne Lawless, son-in-law
George Habkirk, daughter-in-law
Marie Turnbull and brother Gordon
McGavin.
Friends were received by the
family Sunday at the Schimanski
Family Funeral Home, Brussels
iwhere a Rebekah service was held
Sunday evening under the auspices
of Morning Star Rebekah Lodge
No. 315. The funeral service was
conducted at the funeral home on
Monday, Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. with
Rev. Christine Johnson and Rev.
Jane Kuepfer officiating.
Interment in Brussels Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jim Pappie, Don
Murray, John Van Vliet, Jim Fritz,
Bob Habkirk and Jack Habkirk.
Flower bearers were grandchildren
and great-grandchildren.
As an expression of sympathy,
memorial donations may be made
to the charity of one's choice.
MARION VIOLA WRIGHT
Marion Viola Wright of Ram-
meloo Home in Blyth passed away
at Wingham Hospital on Friday,
Nov. 27, 1998.
Born Sept. 28, 1900 in Thorn-
bury, Mrs. Wright was a daughter
of the late George and Mary (Bole)
Cook.
Married to Emmerson Wright,
who predeceased her in 1975, Mrs.
Wright worked as a homemaker.
She was a member of Blyth United
Church and of the Eastern Star
lodge.
She was a dear friend of the late
Pearl Legate and family.
There was no visitation. A pri-
vate graveside service was held on
Monday, Nov. 30 at Blyth Union
Cemetery. Rev. Cecil Whittich of
Blyth United Church officiated.
Arrangements were entrusted to
the Beattie-Faloncer Fucnral Home
"Tasker Chapel", Blyth.
