Dedication
Members of Brussels United Church and their families enjoyed a time of celebration on
Sunday afternoon with the dedication of Project Uplift, an extensive renovation which
completes the goal of making the church fully accessible. Standing by the lift door, located
to the left side of the church lobby, are, from left: committee chairperson Ralph Watson, his
wife Pat, lifelong member Jim Smith and Rev. Christine Johnson. Also present at the service
were Rev. Kathi Urbasik-Hindley, chair of. the Huron-Perth Presbytery, Village Clerk Donna
White, contractor Henry Exel and architect John Rutledge.

Remembrance theme at UCW
The Afternoon Unit of the UCW
met Nov. 17 in the Sunday School
..f.iaom. Kay Roberts welcomed
everyone and opened the meeting
with the poem "Why Wear a
Poppy".
Lois Chamney conducted the
worship, continuing with. the
Remembrance theme.
The scripture reading was Luke
22: 14 - 20. Olive Bolt read a poem
"The Mark of the Crosses".

Rebekahs and the Huron Historical
Society.
Eventually Jennie and Wilbur
retired in Brussels where they
celebrated their 70th wedding
anniversary in January 1988. When
her husband died a few months
later she moved to Maplewood
Manor in Seaforth where she spent
over 10 years. Jennie greatly
appreciated the homelike
atmosphere, and the supreme
efforts of the staff, and the family
support. The last month of her life
was spent in Seaforth Manor
Nursing Home,.
She leaves to mourn, her two
sons, John and his wife Marian and
Bill, and her two daughters, Helen
Habkirk and Dorothy Lawless and
some training at
Institute at OAC
