Walton Public School news Hamster goes missing Malinda Johnston and Anne Clark were greeters at Duff's United Church on Nov. 23. Rev. James Murray opened the service with the Call to Worship followed by the Junior choir singing, Come into God's Presence. After the scripture reading. the senior choir sang a communion hymn All who Hunger. Rev. Murray announced that next Sunday the Mitchell Bell Ringers will be providing music for the service. Everyone is welcome to attend the service and join in the lunch afterwards. The Walton Hall Board will be holding a beef supper on Nov. 29 as well. White Gift service will take place Dec. 6. Rev. Murray's sermon was called, "Signs of the Shepherd King." Today marks the end of the church year. "Over the past 52 weeks we have been witness to the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ," Rev. said. "We can be proud that we are still here as a church, even though our numbers are small. It is an achievement and in this sense we have kept the faith. We have shared in God's salvation here on earth." There are many ways to describe the meaning of salvation, he said. Salvation is liberation, like the Hebrew slaves who were led out of Egypt. Salvation is coming home, like the Israelites who came home from exile in Babylon. It is enlightenment, a new way of looking at the world, like Moses at the burning bush. It is forgiveness, like the woman caught in adultery. Playing euchre There was a good turnout at the Walton Hall for euchre games. Congratulations to Marie Stewart and Eileen Sellers who took the Continued on page 18 It is being God's beloved children., like the children Jesus took upon his knee to bless. It is a release from sin and guilt, like Zacchaeus. It is resurrection, like the prodigal son's journey from death to new life, It is food and drink which satisfy our hunger and our spiritual thirst, like the feeding of the 5000. It is finding new possibilities and opportunities in all, like the good Samaritan. "In short, God's gift of salvation, is healing, wholeness and hope for us all. Salvation fill us with the gifts of the spirit, which Paul says are freedom, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness and self-control," Rev. Murray said. The Walton kindergarten class enjoyed studying the letter H because they got to eat hot heart- shaped toast with strawberry jam. Their colour was blue and they fingerpainted blue water for the yellow ducks that they made last week. They are learning to recognize the words red, yellow and blue. The Grade Is completed their study of patterning by creating paper quilt blocks and designing their own Christmas wrapping paper. The class is now beginning to study Life systems. They recorded the life of a pumpkin plant in a sequence booklet. Now they are exploring mammals. The Grade 2/3s have had a rather upsetting week as their pet hamster Nib is missing. They have searched their room and George has kept his eye open for the little ball of white fluff. So here's hoping he'll show up on Monday. In art they reviewed lines and colours. Some very pretty pictures are posted outside the classroom if anyone would like to see this type of art. News reporter for the Grade 3/4 was Shayne Cochrane. He reported that they worked a lot on French and made posters for the Brussels Santa Claus Parade. Another highlight for the week was chicken and fries day. Shayne says it was delicious. Just a reminder that Thursday evening and Friday are parent- teacher interviews.
